Chloe Renee-Labor Story

I already posted her birth announcement, and here is my labor story.

On Monday, December 24th, 2007, at 6:52 p.m., I felt what I assume was my first REAL contraction. I shrugged it off, figuring they were BH, but they continued on. I put my daughter to bed at 8 p.m. and wrapped her gifts and me and my boyfriend placed them under the tree. I told no one about the contractions which seemed to be getting worse, still thinking they were BH. My boyfriend went to bed at 10:30 p.m. but I stayed up because I couldn't sleep(I wonder why). Shortly before midnight, I felt an urge to go to the bathroom. Instead of going, my water broke instead. I woke my boyfriend up and told him we needed to go to the hospital because my water broke. He told me to go into the kitchen and get some more water. I kept bugging him and finally, he was fully awake. I again told him my water broke and we needed to go. He said "Okay, don't freak out, this is our first time doing this!"(he was probably still half asleep). I said I was fine and this was our second, not our first. He said I told you that already. I repeated what he said and he told me Whatever. Anyways he started the car, and went in and woke my mother up to tell her. She asked me if I was sure this was it. I told her it was. She said Good luck and to call her. She of course stayed home to watch my daughter. We got to the hospital 30 minutes later. They checked me in and checked and I was only 3 cm dilated(I had been that way for a few days since my last appointment). We decided to walk around for an hour or so, and when I returned, I was 4 cm, so they decided I was progressing fairly and I probably wouldn't need any help(Pitocin). The doctor arrived shortly before 5, I was checked again, and I was 6 cm. I was kind of frustrated, since I was in pain and I thought I would progress faster than I was. I asked for an epidural, and the anesthesiologist was called. He didn't arrive until 6 a.m. though, and I was in a great deal of pain by then. I was only 6 1/2 cm now. Once the epidural was given though, I progessed to 10 cm in an hour. Shortly before 7:00 a.m. I was told it was time to push. My boyfriend wasn't too sure he wanted to be in the room during delivery(he missed the first birth due to work) because he can't stand the sight of blood. I made him stay though since I didn't want to be alone. He held my hand the entire time. I saw his face turn white though many times. Finally at 7:17 a.m. Chloe Renee was born. His mood changed instantly. He wanted to cut her umbilical cord, hold her, all that. The nurse wanted to take her so she could be cleaned up, weighed and everything but he didn't want to give her up. Finally he let the nurse take her. She weighed in at exactly 6 pounds and was 19 inches long. We stayed in the hospital until the 27th. I wish I had been home for Christmas, but everything was left unopened for when me and Chloe came home from the hospital. Even my older daughter didn't mind waiting to share her Christmas with her little sister.

My baby was born 15 days early too! I guess our girls just wanted to surprise us! I wasn't going to complain!

How is having the two girls? I want another baby already and people think that I'm crazy. Is it hard being so young?

Yeah it's hard. I'm trying to finish my final year of high school. Of course neither one was planned, but both girls have been a blessing. Amber, my 2 year old has been very loving. Right now Chloe is only 5 days old and has been home for almost 3 days. I have to wait and see what happens.

Girls tend to be early it seems in my family and boys tend to be late. Go figure. LOL Cool that yours came 15 days early as well. My older daughter was 29 days early I believe.

I hope that your family is doing well together and that you are having a good night! Good luck with school....that Chloe has great timing...being born during your winter break from school I assume.

My best advice on having a Christmas baby (it's my brother's birthday as well) is to celebrate it in June! When they get older and are in school, it's pretty difficult to plan birthday parties around the holidays, and not many of their friends will show updue to half of them travelling, etc.. Also, a lot of people will be short on money, or will flat out forget about the birthday in the middle of the holiday havoc, and therefore they'll get "Bothday Gifts", as my brother calls them.

Yeah I'm glad she came during winter break instead of after the new semester started.
