re: I WAS ADOPTED- thread open for all

I've been trying to find my birth mother since I turned 18 I've filled out the paperwork with nys Multiple times but I've received nothing on her. I had a closed adoption and only have non identifying information on her but I have letters she wrote me before I was born asking me to try to find her.someday and its killing me that Ive done all I know I can do and can't find her. Does anyone have any advice on how I can locate her?

i was adopted at the age of 5 and a half. its a sad story on why my biological parents had to give me up.

I was adopted at 9wks. My story:

I was conceived in mcalester but my birthmom and her family moved back to michigan when they found out i was on the way. My mom n dad(adoptive) lived in michigan and thru mutual friends they came to start the adoption process even before i was born. Michigan decided to step in and long story short my parents moved in with grandma in oklahoma. 9wks after my birth my mom came n got me and a inter state adoption was completed.

In april of this year i found and met my birthmom n 2half sisters. For me it was a dream come true. I also have a half brother, maternal grandma, and an aunt that is 7yrs younger that ive met. I have been accepted into the family without any qualms and with open arms. I look just like my birthmom n grandma and one sister could be my twin! We found out about gavin being on the way days after i met my family. We have been so blessed this year.

I started mine when I was 18, too. I had her name and her brother's name. I wrote letters to addresses of those who had their names hoping for the best. I ended up finding her brother after three years.

I have a friend who adopted two children at birth who are now 4 and 7. Even though she adopted her children while living in our current community, she's pretty closed about it and I am not sure how much she has told her 7 yo about her adoption, as she told me that her daughter doesn't know the "whole story." I know my friend is still not comfortable about "having to adopt," which is how I think she's sees it because she couldn't conceive naturally and is still upset about it. When my daughter told another friend that this girl is adopted, my friend became upset and told me that "this is not gossip. This is [my daughter's] story to tell, not anyone else's." I hear where she's coming from, but at the same time it is a small community, and I feel her being so closed about these adoptions will only make her children feel bad and ashamed about their life story, instead of proud and grateful. Any thoughts?

i was adopted at 2 days old, my birth mother was 27 years old, i was her 7th child. My adoption was a closed adoption, but my parents sent her a picture of me at 2 months old and gave her a necklace to remember me. My birth mother recently found me, we now talk, and i talk to my other sisters. Im planning on visiting them in a year or so.
