Quoting Savannah134: I'm not adopted but this is a great idea for a thread!Thank you!
Quoting Graham&Crackers: Thats awesome. How does your parents feel about it? open?
Quoting Graham&Crackers: Vital records is where my husband started. He found my birth mothers DOB, and age. Then from there we started searching on line. We actually found both of my parents through obituaries.
Quoting Graham&Crackers: This is one of the reasons that I started looking again for my birth parents. I had no idea about medical ... [snip!] ... my birth mom when my daughter was little over a year. WE all have a wonderful relationship now. All of them are great people.
Quoting Momlette: I know my mothers name and age and can't seem to find her I've looked her name up online and stuff ... [snip!] ... I just dont know where to start. I thought when youre a certain age that where you were adopted from could tell you stuff?Do you have your adoption papers. You should have legal papers that your birth mother signed that might help you start looking. The court will sign them over to you at age 18. Thats what I did.
Quoting *Ethans Momma*: do you know if there is a way I could start looking for them? I don't know any of their information ... [snip!] ... like to try and find them so I have something to tell doctors if my son ever geys sick or something. If that makes sense...
Quoting Graham&Crackers: How did it go??? If you dont mind me asking. I updated my story at the top.it didnt go very well.
Quoting Trio of Girls: My Father didn't want anything to do with it at first (8 yrs ago), but now he's so excited. My Mom isn't ... [snip!] ... Mom isn't adopted, but I did search and find my baby sister that died 2 days after birth and it was covered up by the hospital.

Quoting AshlynS: it didnt go very well. she had me at 14. wouldnt call me ashlyn, called me the name she gave me at birth ... [snip!] ... at birth needless to say we dont talk but i am glad i met her and my sisters i also found my birth father but he was in prison
Quoting Graham&Crackers: really... the name she gave you???? Do you talk to your sister?
Quoting AshlynS: no they are both underage and its not worth me dealing with the drama of the mother to speak to them.

I thought when youre a certain age that where you were adopted from could tell you stuff?im not sure if its the same or not but when I placed my daughter I had to sign a paper allowing them to put me in the adoption registry (ill look for it and post a link) so that if we ever lost touch(its an open adoption) and she wanted to find me they have my name birthdate and address at the time of placement. If you have any adoption papers you could contact the lawyer she went through they are usually tons of help
