getting "gelled" before induction ?

So merry early christmas =] i went to the doctor today and finally got a date of induction, and it is on my due date ! which is on weds. january 2, but i have a question.. they want me to go in on tuesday january 1 at around 8 at night to get "gelled" because i havent dialated any yet.. i didnt get to ask the doctor what it was because the nurse ran outside and gave me the news.. and once that happens i'll be staying the night and start getting the drugs going on weds. at 7 in the morning.. so i was just wondering what is involved with getting gelled ??

I think its a pill they put on your cervix to soften it.

same happened to me.....

they insert cervidil and its supposed to soften u up. theyll start pitocin in the morning.

it doesnt always work tho. i still ended up with a c section.

They insert a gel to soften the cervix. It kinda burns for a minute but after you don't even notice it. It doesnt hurt or anything so don't worry and goodluck when you go in. Hope you have an fast and easy delivery and of course a healthy child. Merry Christmas
