Nobody was making a personal attack on you until you started in with calling people names. I have a theory that people start calling names when they run of legitiment arguments to make.

you made the choice to smoke while pregnant but where is the baby's choice? to do any type of drug is a personal choice and since the baby cant make that choice yet my personal opinion is that you shouldnt make it for your child.

I'm not here to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do while pregnant but I will say my opinion. Maybe there isn't any clear cut evidence of the effects of smoking weed while pregnant, but it is KNOWN that smoking anything deprives the baby of oxygen and interferes with the baby's blood supply. And it is KNOWN that deprivation of oxygen can cause low birth weight/length. Smaller babies are at higher risk for other problems after birth such as jaundice, breathing problems, low blood sugar, and vision problems. To me it sounds selfish to put the unborn fetus at risk. Just because they don't know that it causes any problems doesn't mean that it doesn't. Why not give your baby the healthiest start it can get?

Out of curiousity would you take a puff and blow it in your kids face since you smoked when you're pregnant it's pretty much the same thing.

Effects on pregnancy
The active ingredient in marijuana, THC, freely crosses the placental barrier and directly affects the fetus. Since most marijuana-addicted parturients also abuse other substances such as tobacco, cocaine and alcohol, it is difficult to identify the specific effects of cannabis on the fetus [83]. It appears that chronic use of marijuana results in decreased uteroplacental perfusion and IUGR. Chronic use of marijuana may alter the pituitary–adrenal axis and hormone production with adverse effects on fertility and pregnancy [87•]. Suppression of ovulation has been reported in association with chronic cannabis smoking [83]. Placental production of both estrogen and progesterone may also be altered. There is some evidence that chronic cannabis use may be associated with functional brain changes and subtle impairment in cognitive function [88].
The effects of chronic cannabis exposure result in significant changes in the respiratory system, which include bronchitis, squamous metaplasia and emphysema [89]. Smoke from cannabis cigarettes is known to suppress both the hormonal and the cell-mediated immune responses [83]. There appears to be no evidence of teratogenicity resulting from cannabis exposure. Low neonatal birth weight, however, increased risk of complications during labor and delay in cognitive development in infants, have been reported in cannabis addicted parturients [90]. Additional studies on this subject are needed.
Peripartum considerations
The cardiovascular effects of marijuana (myocardial depression and tachycardia) may potentiate the effects of any medications the drug abusing parturient may receive in the peripartum period affecting heart rate and arterial pressure. Adverse interactions of marijuana with propranolol and physostigmine have been reported [91]. Cannabis may enhance the sedative-hypnotic effects of other drugs that depress the central nervous system. Studies have shown cross-tolerance of cannabis with alcohol, barbiturates, opioids, benzodiazepines and phenothiazines. During general anesthesia for cesarean section additive effects of marijuana and potent inhaled anesthetic agents can result in pronounced myocardial depression [83]. In parturients with history of acute marijuana abuse, agents that increase heart rate such as ketamine, atropine and epinephrine should be avoided. Cannabis inhalation leads to impairment of lung function similar to tobacco smoking. Oropharyngitis and uvular edema causing airway obstruction under general anesthesia have been reported [92]. Additionally, adverse psychiatric and autonomic reactions to cannabis may interfere with safe induction of anesthesia and postoperative recovery.

I'm positive she only smoked. I'm not sure on the frequency- I just know thats the reason he has developmental issues. He's not handicapped by anymeans, he just is developing a lot slower than the other kids his age, like when he was learning to talk and learning to walk. My sisters son, who is three or four months younger was way ahead of my brothers son. It was really sad to see him struggle because his mom chose to smoke while she was pregnant.

Ok, I don't look at pot as a drug. Or ciggaretts either. I do not smoke ciggaretts or drink AT ALL. Why is pot a drug? Because it ups the leval of THC in your bady. What could it possibly do to a baby??? I have a healthy baby. And my child doesn't have a choice yet. Just because you ladies are so bent out of shape don't mean I should be to. Im open minded and I know what Im doing. If my baby is born with any problems I will make a post and tel you all how right you were. Untill then, yall ....Actually, I should make the choise. Not for my child but for me. I know when I take a hit its a choise. But I dodn't get stoned and I don't use regularly either. I will never smoke like I use to. my days of parting are up. So just lay off. lol
