As most people have all said it'sa PERSONAL decision and opinion, I for one think that you should think about your baby in this instance and stay as healthy as possible, if you want to smoke thats your decision, but you're baby doesn't have that option stay healthy for the baby. And I posted to help the OP. I gave her my Honest opinion. And as fare as low birth weights and all. I was a 13 lbs baby. My brother was13 lbs and my sister was14 lbs. we were all over our due dats and my little sister is a 8th grader with two scholorships to collage. And my brother sits around and builds crazy shit all the time. As for the ADD and ADHD thery, that might actually hold some truth to it.

Without getting into a huge debate lets look at the facts about smoking marijuana during pregnancy. There are studies that show complications caused by smoking marijuana during pregnancy. However, most of those studies are based on heavy pot smokers.

I am in no way promoting the use of any drug during pregnancy. I believe that if there is a slight chance that something would happen I would not take that risk. We all will have our opinions about this.

If you look at the studies most of them say a key word and that word is "may". As in it may cause problems. It also might not do anything. It is a choice you have to make as a mother and hopefully it is a well educated decision.

just to let you know, everyone you're bashing so far are very well established, very informative, very nice ladies, and if you continue to bash them i ASSURE you there will be much shit to be rained upon you by everyone else on here who loves them (including myself).  When you're talking about something so controversial, you should be well aware you're going to get opinions from one end of the spectrum to the other.  deal with it and don't take shit so personally.

that being said.  i have researched this topic in great depth.  i have found many foreign or independent studies that show marijuana un-altered has only been found to cause a slightly less birth weight.  BUT since the good ol' govt refuses to do any ACTUAL studies on it due to what i personally believe to be their own selfish reasons, there aren't any definitive studies on it that are 100%.  so why chance it?  its only 9 months out of your life.  I too smoked regularly before i got pregnant.  i researched it, and couldn't find anything that id trust enough to stake my child's life on.  so i quit and even though my husband smokes daily (not around me), i have abstained.  and if you think about it logically, depriving yourself of oxygen while you smoke isnt the best idea ever either.

ALSO... the "my mom/friend/grandma/neighbor/hairdresser did it and her kids are fine" is the dumbass-est excuse anyone could ever use.  our grandparents were told it was okay to smoke cigs and drink during pregnancy and our parents were fine, does that mean its ok to do it now?  no.  our parents didnt have to wear seat belts when they were kids and they were fine, are you going to put your kids in a car without a seat belt on?  no.  this excuse is just a cop out for people who don't have a brain of their own.  with so much available at your fingertips in this day and age why be such a freaking retard?

Um, no actually. I didn't get her um,... "smartness Genus" . My mother is very smart. Althou she was a horrible mother. LOL. Im the uneducated one. See I had other things to do then go to school growing up. I had to take care of my brother and sister while my mother worked her ass off in a factory to support us. So I didn't get good schooling. My brother and sister however are very smart. And as sad as it is, I have to ask my 13 year old little sister to help me do shit cause she is amarter then I am. But, I tought her how to read and she is going to collage. And my child WILL have a good education. well I def wont smoke pot durning my pregnancy (infact im like 4 years clean  ) i did drink the first couple of months but stoped once i got to like 7 months! but my mom was an alcholic throughout her entire pregnancy and none of us were born with any problems

Those birth rates are probably a result of gestational diabetes, because those are abnormal birth weights.

If there are no good trusting studies done then why would you put your selfish habits over an unborn child. It's 9 months of your life thatwill effect them for the rest of their life. Everything you do while pregnant should be to promote the safest and healthiest lifefor your child.

I don't know why you and your bitch friends got to make a big deal over everything. I made the choice to smoke while I was pregnant. So fare I don't regret it. So why is everyone bashing me. I don't smoke everyday. I don't smoke at all any more actually. But I did a few times. And if you don't want me " bashing" your dumb ass friends and YOU. Then mind your own.

My nephew had developmental problems because his mom (only) smoked while she was pregnant.
