So worried!

For the past 5 days/nights I have been so worried about not making it to the hospital in time when I go into labor that I can hardly sleep. I wake up at least 10 times a night and any pain I feel makes me wonder am I going into labor. The reason I am so worried is because my labors are so short. My first was only 8 hours and I slept through half of it because I didnt realize I was in labor. My second was 3-4 hours and I was taking a nap when it happened again it took me a bit to realize I was in labor I just made it to the hospital and then started pushing, for my third my water broke with no contractions and so I was put on pitocin and when the contractions finally started there was only about 2 hours before I had my baby. I am so worried that I am going to go into labor while I am sleeping and sleep through most of it and might not make it to the hospital. I have to make three phone calls before I can leave as well as get my kids to their babysitter before I can even go to the hospital! I whent with midwives and when I tell them about this worry they tell me it will all work out. I just want to be induced or something and yet there is no possibility of that because I have a midwife. I am just so scared about not getting to the hospital on time that by the time this baby comes Im going to be a zombie with hardly any sleep.

I have a similar fear of not making it to the hospital. I live about 35 minutes from the hospital and I've set up babysitting here, at home, and near the hospital. That made me feel better, so if I need to go I can go...call the sitter near the hospital and drop the kids off or have her meet me at the hospital. I also know there's a 24 hour Walmart right next to the hospital, so once I'm having contractions that are consistent for 20 minutes or so...I'm going. If I'm not ready to check in when I get there...I'll go walk Wallyworld! But, if best-layed plans don't work out...then I'll just do my best with 911, paramedics, and a roadside delivery! I try to think positive and plan, but relax when things don't turn out.

So, good luck...you're not alone in your fears, but try to get a little rest. I've only got 2 kids and they exhaust me....you could use a little rest at night. If you wake up take a minute to realize you're not in labor and then relax back into sleep. Good luck!

oh wow i knwo ihave a midwife also and i wish i would have went with reg doc midwife wait untill last minute to induced i wanted to get induced also i am 39 w and 2 d and i just don't fill any progress cause she doen't even ck me for cm i hated it.

Lol yes my midwife doesnt check me either and so I never know if im making any progress or not, but Im over that, midwifes have great techniques when you are in labor that doctors don't normaly have that is why I chose a midwife. I had a midwife for my last child and I have the same one again. I just wish they would induce or even strip my membranes, but nope they won't   . I just want some kinde of control as to when I go into labor so that I know things will be ready and I will get to the hospital. I know I need to relax, but I just can't seem to.

one in my arms i am due on the 27 dec
