PCOS/Insulin Resistance

Hi,
I was diagnosed with PCOS caused by Insulin Resistance. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has this. I went to my first Dr.'s appoinment and she told me that the chances of havign gestational diabetes is higher with the insulin resistance. Therefore, I will be doing my glucose test on my very next visit.
I eat pretty healthy and try to do a little exercise and am very excited about this baby, i just dont want the gestational diabetes!

Hi there I also have PCOS, and have had it since puberty but was not diagnosed until 2 years ago, a lot of frustrating years, but this is my 3rd preganancy and my last one and this one I have had to deal with the gestational diabetes,, my last baby was 10 pds and 8 oz,, had a c section after being in labor for ever but he was just to big,, so I'm hoping this baby will not be as big,, luckily the baby was fine after delivery,, he was very hungry but his sugars were good, and he's now a healthy 2 year old,, and the next one is due July 5th,,  

Did you have to take insulin? Are you diabetic now?

No I never took insulin last time and hopefully if all goes well not this one either,, my sugars were fine after I had my baby the last time,,

sorry for so many questions but i feel better when i hear from others. I take/took metformin, is that your meds? This is my main worry and I hate dieting!

yes I used to take metformin until getting pregnant,, my doc took me off both pregnancies and then I go back on after,, which I think it would help with my sugars if I stayed on it,, I've heard of lots of woman staying on while pregnant but mine recomends coming off the meds,
