How does a Man get a uti??

I know how I get em..I get em quite often and have to drink lots of water all the time..I know I can get one if I haven't had sex in a while just because of the activity increase...my SO has a uti and its the fist time EVER he has ever turned me down when I wanted sex. I suggested maybe he got it from me, maybe it possible to have a female transfer it but idk...But we also haven't had sex in a good 3 weeks so im confused. Should I be concerned? He also has been really distant..usually when I voice I want sex he gets automatically turned on and cant stop touching me but this morning he didnt seem to notice at all when he was getting ready for work how I was wearing my sexy pjs and trying to get a reaction from him...I dont think he would have cheated...but who knows right? How do men get em? Thought that they were mostly a woman's issue...

The same way we do. and yes, they can be transfered. My BD has gotten a UTI from me when I had an unknown yeast infection.

i looked into that when i got my most recent one.......its very unlikely but CAN happen

In men, these are often caused by obstructions, such as kidney stones.

He could have a kidney stone or other obstruction, or it could be a side effect of an STD. It can also be caused by a catheter, a side effect of diabetes, or transferred from his partner if she has a UTI or yeast infection. The last is rare, but it can happen.

Obstructions and STD's are the most common causes.

Even if we havent had sex for a few weeks? He says he is in alot of pain and I have been trying to push water with him but he treats it like he is allergic to it and I have some Keflex which is what they give me to treat my uti's that he has been taking last 2 days to see if it helps...

Jeffs UTI popped up within days. We had sex, the next day I foundout I had a yeast infection, then jusut a couple days later he disccovered he hada UTI.

I dont like the sound of that..im STD free and if he has one then he is in BIG trouble!!

if theres pain like that involved i wouldnt be surprised if he has a kidney infection or a kidney stone

Sounds like he may have kidney or bladder stones, if he's in a lot of pain. He may want to go in to talk to his doctor about it.

Don't get too discouraged about the lack of sex. UTI's affect men differently than they do women, and there's usually an underlying cause. It's perfectly feasible that he's in too much pain or too uncomfortable to worry about getting turned on or having sex.

so it would be almost immediately after we had sex if it was ME that gave it to him? That sucks..We havent been sexual with eachother.

He could have another problem. Bladder infection that spread, kidney stones, ect. Especially if he's in a lot of pain. Jeff's really only bothered him when he peed. He should talk to his doctor.

Exactly. And that could be why he's avoiding drinking lots of water, because he doesn't want to pee more because of the pain.

I know, and even though I rarely WANT sex because im round and uncomfortable, when I do its like a burning need...so that sucks BUT I feel bad for him because he has to get up to go to the bathroom often and he doesnt look happy which sucks more then not getting sex. I get that he is in pain and I try and help but he is stubborn and HATES water lol. I hope its not kidney or bladder stones..those r supposed to be really painful right?

only thing is we are trying to treat it with no dr..he doesnt have insurance and we do not have the money to spend on the dr visit..his choice not mine.. he doesnt want to go
