I lost my first baby at 20 weeks on Dec 29, 2012 due to IC. We never knew I had it until it happened. My doc suggested a cerclage for my next pregnancy but I'm really nervous. I really want to have a baby but don't know if I can handle another loss. How often is cerclage successful?

Most of the time. vaginal cerclages are 80% affective while abdominal have a hire success rate but both so pretty well.

I'm new here. I'm so glad to know I am not the only one with this horrible thing! I lost my first baby (a boy) on December 24, 2012. I went complaning of consipation problems only to be told my cervix was opening and my bag was buldging. I was rushed up to L&D and delivered my son a few hours later. I was then told later what was going on. My son was perfect! He lived for 1 hour and 17 minutes after he worn born. This time I will never forget and will always cherish. I am glad there is a way to fix this but wish I had known before hand. Im hoping to meet with my peri after my 6 week check up with my regular OB to discuss our options and when we can try again. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to experience but seeing all of you that have went thru this and are making it gives me hope that I too will be able to one day.

Still learning about babygaga and just happened to run accross this thread. I want to say thank you. In all my years ive never run into an actual support group for IC. I myself am about to be transported to a larger more experienced hospital then our local one to try and have my third cercloge inplaced. Unfortunately i have reached cercomstances that have my local drs uncomfortable to perform the sergery themselves. Probably TMI for just an introduction. Sorry. Anyways, i appreciate the time and effort you put in to this. Thanks again and i hope everyone in here the best of luck on theur journies. Take care, and have a peacefull day

Not necessarily but they suggest giving it some time before. Like 3 cycles.

Hi there. I'm Liz and I am 9 weeks 3 days pregnant. I am scheduled to have a cervical cerclage. I have a unicornuate uterus, and my dr feels it is a safe bet that without this procedure I will have this baby earlier than I had my son (34 weeks). Has anyone ever had this procedure done? I'm just nervous, and looking to hear if anyone has had a similar situation? Thank you!

Hey, I'm new here this is my second pregnancy. My first I had a baby boy born at a little under 22 weeks due to a wimpy cervix (as my Perinatologist put it). I became pregnant just around 4 months. I received my cerclage at 14 weeks 3 days, currently 25 weeks, she is growing right on schedule.

I currently have 2 cerclage babies, born at 39 weeks. I am due March 18th with boy #4!! Cerclage placed @ 14 weeks and that will be coming out on or around Feb 28th @ 36 weeks. I am super nervous as I have experienced about 5-10 BH contractions a day and lots of pressure, more so than with the last 2. With my youngest I dilated right to 4-5cm when the Cerclage was removed and walked around like that for 3 weeks b4 they were nice enough to end my misery with an induction. I have a feeling that this one is going to come rather quickly and have been told by my OB that if I dilate like I did the last time, she is sending me upstairs to deliver (OB office is at the Hospital where I am delivering). My concern is how ready he will be at just 36 weeks. He is measuring a week ahead and at 32 weeks is almost 5lbs they said, but shouldn't they give me the shot for his lungs or something just in case?
