I have a desk job. I'm a personal banker, so no heavy lifting or anything. Last time I was pregnant, I was a merchant teller. I did a lot of change requests. Unfortunately, its not a position that I can do from home.

They can check it and cut it if it's too long.

With my second cerclage I didn't have bedrest-- and I got it at 23w5d. It really depends on your uterine activity and cervix length at the time of placement.

Good luck.

Do you have Short Term Disability just in case you do have to go on bedrest? It saved me with my first (22weeks of bedrest). I always suggest it!! You are in SC so it would have to be something you buy as a benefit through HR since SC doesn't offer it for their residents. (5 states offer STD for residents)

Hello everyone.

I just was happy to see someone is out there doing some good for others.

I was not diagnosed with IC but I had my frist son at 24 weeks and 5 days on January 4th 2009. To this day we still do not know why he was born so early. We have no idea. He is a a healthy perfect little 3 year old but it would be nice to know why he came early.

I am now pregnant, big surprise. Was not planned, so we were shocked. I was started on 17P weekly injections at 16 weeks, I am now 19 weeeks, due December 5th but will be having baby at the 36 week mark due the classical c section I had. I also will be receiving the steriods for the babys lungs at 24 weeks.

So I guess, here I am, Stressed, worried, concerened, scared, and did I say stressed?
We keep checking for incomptent cervix, It is so stressful and just concerns me because every movement I feel, I worry over.
Is this normal?

My job offers short term at 100% of my pay and long term at 50% of my pay. I used the short term for 8 weeks of bedrest during my last pregnancy because they didn't give me the cerclage.

I'm hoping at this point that I don't need it. My appointment is tomorrow, but I'm not the least bit worried. I'm prepared for whatever my doctor has to say.

I'm new to baby gaga so I dont know exactly how it works but it's conforting to read about other peoples positive experiences with ic. I've experienced 2 losses with it and am pregnant again. Reading your stories give me hope that this one will work out.

MAke sure you demand that your doctor test for it. Are they doing the 17P shots?

I had a healthy baby boy born at 37wks. Then had my baby boy trenton at 25 wks and he passed away 4 days after he was born. I found out I was preggers May 20th, 2012. My dr told me at my 1st appointment due to me going into labor without knowing it/feeling it shes pretty sure that I have an incompetent cervix. SHe discussed the makenna shot or the cerclage. I chose the cerclage and had the procedure yesterday. Im still scared that I could go into preterm labor so im going to discuss this with her.

Most of us have both. P17 along with the cerclage helps many of us.

I had my cerclage placed at 12wks and finally had it checked at 27weeks5days. Im now 28wks. During my check up they said my cervix was thinning and im already 2cm dilated. Now im on strict bedrest can only use the bathroom.   JUST A CONCERN IS THERE ANYONE HERE WHO HAD COMPLICATIONS WITH THE CERCLAGE OR YOUR BABY STILL CAME EARLY? HELP. Im scared that the cerclage may rip/tear and I heard that its really dangerous for myself and my baby.

I was diagnosed with a short cervix 17mm at 20 weeks as my last pregnancy was 7.5 weeks early. My pregnancy before that i carried very low to 37 weeks hence my stretch marks are under my bottom not on belly. I did not go for the cervical stitch as there wasnt enough info out there for women having it done after 13 weeks and the side effects seemed scary, e.i start of labour, infection etc. I am 26 weeks now and just resting alot and basically sitting tight monitoring everything my baby is doing. This weekend the hospital gave me 2 steroid injestions just in case of prem labour but staff are very relaxed which is nice and say just carry on doing what i am doing and all will be fine. So happy to find others in same position.

Hey i know what you are saying about feeling like a bit of a failure but alot more women suffer with this than we think. Its just some of us are lucky enough to have it diagnosed. I have been through so many ups and downs with this pregnancy. !st fertility problems, then pregnant, then being told i'd have to have a c section, then I.C, now waiting on diabetes test results. It seems never ending. Now i have cronic indegestion day and night ;-). I.m sure all will be worth the suffering. Chin up. From like minded mum x

Oh this is why i changed my mind at the hospital when i was due to get the procedure at 20 weeks. So sorry for you. When i asked for advice not many doctors seemed to know the risks (well the statistics). The statistics are all for having it. I hope you are getting plenty of rest and the doctors have given you the steroid injections for baby just in case. Good luck. You're not alone. Post updates please x
