Yes I am happy I found out I was not the only one with it. I I sent a few other mamas that have IC a comment about this thread.

Quoting ~Mel Belz and Peyton~:“ Feel free to post your story! With Peyton my cervix was so soft when they placed the stitch at 14 wks ... [snip!] ... 14 wks that I kept tearing. My doc told me at either 34-35 wks that he didn't think I would make it a week but I made it 22!

Oh, I will.
But It'll probably be a bit long and take me a while.

My cervix was pretty soft, I was less than half a centimeter thick, and 3cm dilated from my internal OS to the middle, and 1cm at the tip. We caught it JUST as my cervix started changing. And it changed quick.
I went the rest of the pregnancy funneled 3cm and less than half a cm thick. Constant bedrest, and being in and out of the hospital all the time. And visiting the preinatologists 2X a week after I was released at 28 weeks from the hospital. At 22 weeks, my doc said he didn't think I'd make it to 34-35. DD had IUGR as well, so that was part of it.

Well, that was some of my story, I guess. lol
But I still haven't even gotten to the labor (They had left 75% of the second cerclage in!)

Girl I had so little cervix left he had to pull it to sew it but hey it worked and my daughter was healthy which was awesome since my daughter Ginger most likely had heart defects.

my mom has IC and she lost my brother when she was 6 months, felt like she needed to use the BR and ended up having him so when she had me the doc stitched her and all they had to do was cut the stitch(s) and push and then i was born.

Well I am glad you made it through!   Too bad there weren't many support groups back then your mom prolly could have used one in a major way!

Yeah, apparently they had to take the clamps to me to get enough to stitch, too. Thank God they put me out for it.
The doc said if we had waited another day or so to do the scan, I probably would have lost Ember. I'm just glad we caught it the first time around. So many women have to lose a child before they discover they have it, and it is just soooo sad.

Were both your losses due to IC? I am so sorry.

Thank you for posting. With my previous two pregnancies I did not have IC. With this one, I found out at 28 weeks pregnant that I had it. I dilated rapidly to 2-3cm and 50% effaced without one single contraction. All I felt was pressure. I was sent to a high risk hospital and spent 17 days on hospital bedrest. When I arrived my cervix was 1.4cm long and now, recently it has became 2.0cm. I was able to be released to home bedrest. I thought with two previous babies and no cervix problems it couldn't happen to me. But like they say, every pregnancy is different.

yay I am so happy you posted this thread! With my first pregnancy it went perfect until around 35 weeks when I went into ptl twice. They managed to stop it both times and then I was induced at 39 weeks. I found out I was pregnant shortly after that... at around 13 weeks I started feeling pressure and went in to be checked. I was 1cm dilated... I was put on modified bed rest.... at around 19 weeks I started feeling MORE pressure... I had started to efface some and was then put on strict bed and pelvic rest. My ptl started at 23 weeks and continued for 15 more weeks.... I was on all kinds of medication to help stop contractions and had to stay in bed unless I had to pee or get myself something to eat. In the end I was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix and an irritable uterus. Since then I have had two early miscarriages... Its a scary thing to be diagnosed with this and it makes me very scared for any future pregnancies. It will be nice talking to other women in my shoes.

I'm here! Thanks for posting this thread! I really needed it. My first pregnancy I had a normal uncomplicated pregnancy. Had a healthy baby boy at 38 weeks. I've had two losses due to IC since then. Now I'm pregnant with my 4th baby and so far I've made it with the help of a cervical cerclage!   I'm also waiting on my miracle baby!! Another baby boy due Feb 6th. I've been having to take it easy and stay off my feet alot. But i know it'll all be worth it~!! Look forward to getting to know you other ladies!
