UPDATE. R.I.P London Marie Sherwood

posted 12th Dec '07
This topic was copy and pasted off of myspace. I was ignorant to the fact that the mother was also in the wrong for this, and I didn't find out until after I posted the topic. In no way do I condone abandoment. I feel that it is the just as much as the mother's fault as it is the fathers. Please read the rest of the topic before you assume that I agree with ANY of it.

December 4th, 2007, Jessica Sherwood had to do something no mother should ever have to do.
At 2:29 pm Jessica made a very tough, but the right decision to take her little 3 month old daughter off life support.
In memory of little London Marie, i thought id start a little forward..
Jessica had a message that i want every one to know..

This is what jessica said:

IF NE ONE HAS KIDS MAKE SURE U KEEP THEM WIT U THE WHOLE TIME DNT GIVE THEM TO NE ONE THAT U DNT TRUST..... TRUST ME I THOUGHT I TRUSTED JOSH..... BUT NOW AS OF 12-4-07 AT 2:29AM SHE IS GONE.... MY ONE AND ONLY BABY....... AND HE IS GUNNA PAY FOR EVER EVEN IF HE GETS OUTTA JAIL SCOTT FREE HE WILL BE DEAD NO MATTER WAT......... TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND THAT KNO LONDON I AM VERY ANGRY AND UPSET I LOST THE LOVE OF MY LIFE MY BABY GIRL.... SHE DIED ON HER 3MONTH BDAY........

SHE HAD 6 FRACTURED RIBS..... BOTH OF HER LEGS WERE FRACTURED.... AND HER BRAIN WAS SO DAMANAGED THAT IF SHE WERE TO LIVE SHE WOULD BE A VEGETABLE.... SO I DID WAT WAS RIGHT AND BEST FOR HER AND TOOK HER OFF LIFE SUPPORT...

THATS WAT U CALL SHAKEN BABY SYNDROM REMEMBER THAT...

For those of you who dont know what Shaken Baby Syndrome is..read this

Shaking, jerking and jolting can cause blood vessels in the head to tear or burst.

Shaken Baby Syndrome is the shaking of an infant or child by the arms, legs, or shoulders with or without impact of the head. This trauma can result in bleeding and brain injury with no outward signs of abuse.

Often frustrated caregivers feel that shaking a baby or small child is a harmless way to make the child stop crying. However, a baby's brain and blood vessels are vulnerable to whiplash motions, such as shaking, jerking, jolting, and impact. The neck muscles of an infant or small child are weak, so the child's head is relatively heavy and the neck cannot support the stress of shaking or impact.

Shaking a very young child, with or without impact of the head, can cause irreversible brain damage, blindness, cerebral palsy, hearing loss, spinal cord injury, seizures, learning disabilities, and even death. It is tragic that healthy, intelligent babies are suffering these disabilities simply because their caregivers don't know about the dangers associated with Shaken Baby Syndrome.

An estimated 1,200 to 1,400 cases of Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) occur each year in the United States. Only 1 out of 4 babies dies of Shaken Baby Syndrome. HOWEVER, the other three babies will need ongoing medical attention for the rest of their short lifespans

You dont have to foward this, your not going to have bad luck in your love life, your not going to die tomorrow, and your not going to get good news at 11:11. If you have any heart at all, you would foward this.

Rest in Peace London Marie Sherwood

Every time I read about a new case like this it makes me cry.

There are women who want nothing more than to have a baby, to be a mother, to share their love with a child that they created. And there are some women who will never get to experience that. The worst thing is that people who are blessed with a baby do things like this. It's just so sad, this world that we live in.

Thanks to everyone who took the time out to reply to this. . . I was completely and utterly heartbroken when I saw this post. I have been following up with this case for awhile now and I can't believe she is finally gone. This post was to cause awareness among the mothers who float around this site. Please be aware of your babies and continue to be the loving mothers you are! Peace and God Bless to you and your little ones.

This is what I found in reference to what someone said about the mother:
Baby London's last days were spent on an unkempt mattress, often alone. Although she was in a Star Prairie, Wis., home with five other people, only one of them held and fed her. Last Sunday, that one person - her 22-year-old father - lost control, according to investigators, and shook the 13-week-old baby before banging her head into a wall. London died less than two days later. Now Joshua A. Schaak is in the St. Croix County Jail on a second-degree reckless homicide charge, and law enforcement officials are wondering why the young father never sought help in caring for the infant. "If he would have just reached out to social services or the hospital or even law enforcement, somebody could have found some assistance for him," St. Croix County Sheriff Dennis Hillstead said. "There are a lot of people that could have helped if they would have just known." London's mother left the girl with Schaak three weeks earlier, after paternity tests proved he was the father, and never came back. Schaak lived in a Star Prairie farmhouse with his father, his father's girlfriend and her two sons, but the family made clear the baby was Schaak's responsibility, not theirs, Hillstead said. According to a criminal complaint filed Thursday in St. Croix County Circuit Court, an ambulance was called to the farmhouse Sunday on a report of a baby who had stopped breathing. London was taken first to a hospital in New Richmond but then transferred to Children's Hospital in St. Paul. A caregiver there told investigators the baby had a serious head injury, a bleeding eye and possible rib fractures. The caregiver suspected child abuse.
Authorities arrested Schaak on Monday. He told investigators the child had bumped her head in the bathtub. London was taken off life support a day later and died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Ramsey County medical examiner determined the child had suffered closed-head trauma and had multiple fractured ribs and extremities. Investigators interviewed Schaak again the next day, and he admitted he had "become frustrated, shaken the baby, and then forcefully directed her to the bed where she struck her head on the wall," a sheriff's report said. But it is still unclear whether London suffered the fractures while in Schaak's care. That part of the investigation continues, Hillstead said.

What is clear is that the little girl had not been taken out of her bedroom - where she slept on the same mattress with her father - at all during the last week of her life, Hillstead said. "Joshua would feed, change, interact with the baby, and then would put it back to sleep, and then leave the bedroom," Hillstead said. Schaak's father and the father's girlfriend told investigators the young man had not gone anywhere or been with any friends since London was dropped off at the house. They also told investigators that since Schaak was unemployed, he spent all day with the child. The girlfriend's two sons - 11 and 15 - had never held the child the entire time she was in the home. In fact, the only time someone other than her father held the child during the last weeks of her life was when Herb Schaak's girlfriend grabbed the blue-lipped baby away from Joshua Schaak on Sunday and called 911. Herb Schaak said his son didn't neglect the girl. "He loved that child. I know that for a fact," he said. "His main focus was taking care of that child." London's mother - Jessica Sherwood, 20, according to Herb Schaak - is aware of her daughter's death, Hillstead said. "It's really a sad situation," Hillstead said. A Jessica Sherwood in Hudson currently faces a disorderly conduct charge in St. Croix County stemming from an altercation in November. She could not be reached for comment. Schaak's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 7. He remains jailed in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Wow, I didn't hear about the other side of the story. . . That is incredible. I can't believe that a mother would leave her child to go out and do drugs like that. . . Her child payed the price with her life
