re: Can stress/arguing set you into preterm labor?

posted 2nd Nov '10
If he doesn't call in like a half hour I'll call him back, I'm trying to time the tightening, I got my first one at around 8, the second time I felt it was 8:20 and I just felt it again now so that's 8:32. Just in case he wants to know when he calls me back.

Quoting MylieMarie:“ I just called and they said they were going to page him to call me back. Last time I called him and they had to page him to get back to me, he never did.

If he doesn't call you in 30 minutes, call back!

I had to do the same with my doctor when I was pregnant once. They just get busy sometimes.

He just called me back, he told me to try walking and drinking some water, if it gets worst to call him back.

Should've seen that one coming! lol. I hate that game. Then, I also hate going in thinking I'm in labor just to be hooked up to the monitor for hours & then being sent home, specially at night when I'm already tired.

Unfortunately it can, stress put me in preterm labour alot. By the looks of it you're everything you should, you've called it in, you're drinking lots of water and you're relaxing. I also found that when it was brought on by stress, taking a nice warm relaxing shower sometimes helped (not a bath though - if you're a risk of preterm labour you don't want to be in the bath). Just keep trying to stay calm and relax, maybe take a nap if you can (I know that probably won't happen!)

I took a nap, walked and drank lots of water like he said and they stopped, I'm feeling alot better today I'm just really tired. I'm so happy it didn't turn into preterm labor.

I can tell you that it can set you into preterm labor. I just got out of the hospital yesterday. the doctor admitted me because my presures were high and it was causing preterm labor and im at 37 weeks. so yes stress and fighting can cause you to go into labor early and the brown discharge goes with it. try to stay at relaxed as you can i no its hard i have a 2 year old and my husband and i do everything at home while he works. keep your head up and take some time to your self as well and if your contraction get to bad you need to call your doctor asap

My OB said it can't. You would have to have signs of pre-term labor but stress alone won't cause it.
