Shots

posted 10th Dec '07
Eryn has to get her 6 month shots tomorrow. I'm really dreading it too. When she gets them done she gets really upset and is really cranky for a few days! Not to mention Eryn has been cranky because of teething...So here we go another cranky day. Besides tylenol anybody know any ways to reduce crankiness?

I wish I did   I think the tylenol was the only suggestion I had. I am dreading my little ladies first shots. I hate that all my girls got a fever and really sleepy from their shots. My new little one will probably be the same way.

You can always hope that your little one has changed. When my little boy got his two month shots he was cranky all day, and slept for what seemed like forever. Even the Tylenol just made him sleep more. He just got his four month shots today, and was a little cranky, but not too bad. Of course, I made sure he had his Tylenol. But they do change. Maybe your little girl will too. Just make sure she's well rested so you don't have tired crankiness on top of everything else.

I always break the shots up in two doses. Will will get two- three vaccines one time then two- three vaccines two weeks later. You can try rubbing her legs before hand and try to get her all giggly before the first shot and then love her up again before they give her the second shot instead of having her lay still. That way she's distracted.

I personally don't believe that anyone should accept these "mild" symptoms as harmless. Many vaccine ingredients are classified as neuro-toxins (toxic to the brain.) The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons opposes mandated vaccines, stating that, "Our children face the possibility of death or serious long-term adverse effects from mandated vaccines that aren't necessary or that have very limited benefits." Many experts, including doctors, believe in the "too many, too soon" philosophy and believe we have an epidemic of not only autism but many new chronic illnesses because of our blanket vaccine policy.

She didn't ask for this bs, she asked how to better help her daughter when she gets the shots not that she shouldn't be giving them to begin with. Don't you think us moms who choose to immunize our children have allready done our research? Or do you really think we're stupid?

You're welcome Meg. I just get upset when everyone thinks that mom's who are doing what they feel is best for their children are downed on because they suppose we haven't done the research for ourselves.

Well the chiropractor that I work for suggests only getting FRESH shots, and only get one at a time. The pediatrician said that would be fine when I asked. Spread the shots out as much as you can. Some mothers wait until 9 or 10 months to get any shots. I've asked a lot of my patients at work who are mothers and a lot of them waited.. I haven't gotten his yet, and am aprehensive about it b/c of the crankiness you are all talking about, breaks my heart hearing him be fussy ;(

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone or call anyone dumb. I am very emotionally tied to this issue after knowing people with vaccine-damaged children and feel that there is a huge misconception that the shots are virtually risk-free. I believe in informed consent, and many parents are not informed of very basic information concerning vaccines before submitting to them...for example how many parents are aware that the DPT/Hep B combo shot lists SIDS as a possible side effect in its product insert?

Yes I am aware and I know what can happen. Do you know what can happen if they don't have these vaccines??? I am a well educated mama I do my homework!

I would stress "possible" as the cause of SIDS is still very much unknown. And since the cause of SIDS is unknown anything and everything could carry a possible side efect of SIDS, including giving a child baths too early in the evening, lol.

And as I said before, most of us have done our research and know what could happen. What frightens us more than the side effects are diseases that can be crippling or fatal. The posibility of contracting such a disease is far more harmfull than the majority of side effects of those shots especially with all of the immigrants from other countries who haven't had those diseases wiped out by mass vaccinations.

My point is the OP did not ask for information regarding not vaccinating, she asked how to make her child more comfortable when she does vaccinate. Not only was your point moot as she's allready decided to vaccinate, it was also extreamly rude.
