STRESSING!

I got a call from my doctor stating my AFP came back abnormal and they want to send me to a specialist. I am way stressed out now...is there anyone that this happened to that everything came out fine? Any help/advice would be wonderful

Alpha Feto-Protein, it testsfor down syndrome...etc

O, i didn't know what it was called.
But i did go through a false positive.
Also had to go to a specialist. It turned out to be okay.

did you have the amnio done?

No, becuase, They do a really long u/s (like an hour long) and look at absolutly everything!! Mine came back for high risk of downs syndrome, so what they did was look at the profile(for facial features like a downs syndrome baby), heart, looked for spots, etc.
They didn't find anything, they said she looked like a normal healthy baby and i could go ahead and get an amnio, but after him saying it was very very slim chance (since he did the u/s) i thought the chance of miscariage over did the pros, so didn't do one.

Just know that there is alot of false positives.

A plus to go along with it, if your baby cooperates with you, u'll get to find out the sex!
