12/4/07 6:15pm 7lbs. 14oz. 20 1/2 in. long
At about 2:00am I woke up with semi-bad cramps and a lower backache. It wasn't too bad, but I took a hot bath, as per my ob, to help ease the pain. I assumed they were contractions as the cramps were coming every 10 minutes. I was finally able to fall asleep around 5:00 but only got to sleep for 45 min. because I had to call in to work. When I woke up, I was still haveing the cramping and backache but it was VERY sporadic. I got the kids up and ready and took them to school. I decided to call the doctor because my brown discharge became bloody and the cramping was coming and going at various intervals. I had an appointment schedulaed for Wednesday but didn't want to wait that long. I went into the office and was 4cm and 70% effaced but the doctor told me I could be litle that for awhile.
Well, I went home, cleaned up the house and ran some errands. The contractions were still coming and going but were becoming more painful, but not unbearable. I called the doctor back around 1:45 because I was becoming uncomfortable. The nurse told me I was only in early labor so not to worry about it. Only when I told her the same thing happened with my son (sporadic contractions) did she say she'd talk to the doctor. Well, she called back at about2:15 amd told me to head into the hospital. I had to wait for my husband to pick the kids up from school and my parents to get to my house so I didn't end up getting to the hospital until about 3:15.
When I go in and situated, the doctor checked me at 4:15 and said I was only 5cm but whenever I wanted an epidural I could get one. Well, the contractions were horrible, but seeing as how I was uncomfortable, I got the epidural.....which, by the way, is AMAZING (it did't work for me when I got it with my son). At about 5:45 the nurse checked me and I was 6-7cm. She told me to flip over to my other side to get the baby in a good position and when I did my water broke. The doctor came in at 6:00 and asked if I had been checked. I told her that I had been and how many cm's the nurse said I was. She checked me again for shits and giggles and asked if I had been feeling any pressure. I said no and was VERY surprised to hear that I was 10cm!!!! (in only 15 min!) I began to push at around 6:05 and Rylee was born at 6:15. I cannot believe how short it was!
Rylee is doing great! We came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and I already wish I was back....it's way too chaotic at home!!!
