Is .2 enough?

posted 10th Oct '10
The doctor said it was fine but I still only wanted to give her half the recommended dose of infant tylenol since she's so young. She doesn't have a fever, it was just to relieve the pain (she has thrush, she's already taking meds for it). Was that even enough to help?

I was told thrush felt more like cotton was stuck in the mouth, instead of painful.

i heard on a dr show that when giving children or adults medication its the recommended amount that should be given, if you give less theres really no point of doing it at all it doesnt help.
check the recommended amount for her weight.

The recommended dose for her weight is .4 but she's only 3 weeks old so i wasn't sure i wanted to give her any at all. she seems like she's feeling a little better, she was less reluctant to eat and she isn't screaming anymore, thank goodness

This. You don't want to undermedicate her and have it do nothing.

The doctor said to be careful because it was easy to give her too much and she could overdose and get sick.

I would skip it. I'd be scared of that happening..

i would give her what is recommended or not give it to her at all.

but would you want to be in pain when there is a solution to help ease the pain?
IMO i would to whatever it takes to ease the pain of my baby girl .

For an infant under 20 lbs or so there is no instruction or recommended amount on all labeled infant pain-killers. So my recommendation is to speak with your baby's doctor and figure out what his/her recommendation is, everyone is different, it's best to take the advice that is custom fitted to your baby's health.
