Who Is Still Breastfeeding?
posted 3rd Dec '07
Just wondering if any other moms have been breastfeeding longer than a month or two. I had always planned to breastfeed at minimum for 6 months and I'm excited that I'm almost there!! I am not planning on stopping then but I'm proud of myself for sticking with it. Also, how long do you guys plan on breastfeeding for??

I feel the same way you do, and unfortonatly if my milk supply decides to keep doing what it is doing I'll be going to formula here soon. But I'm gonna try pumping at least 10-15 minutes on each side even after my little man eats. That and I want to have milk to be able to put into his cereal and stuff. But I'm a little less then a month away of my 6 month mark. And yeah I can't believe I've even made it this far... I want to breastfeed till he is at least a year old, but i guess we'll see...

I am still! But my little one is only almost4 months old. Here lately I have been having a hard time pumping at work, it's in there I just can't get it to let down. So he gets supplemented one bottle during the day.
Anyways I plan on doing it until he is a year old. But I have been setting small milestones, like til 3 months. Then 6 months. Then a year.

My baby is 8 weeks & I'm still trying to breast feed. My milk is slowing down, it's gone dry a few times, so I'm working with what I can.

over 6 months later and we're still breastfeeding. We've had to supplement since day 1 though b/c my milk didn't come in for 2 weeks and my supply never caught up to his humungous appetite. But we plan on continuing for another 6 months. That's my new goal anyways

I wanted to say congrats as well for sticking it out. I never produced enough milk, but still pumped and breastfed as well as supplemented for 6 weeks. My milk was almost dried up by then. I planned on going to 6 months though, so it was a bit of a disappointment.

I've been nursing for almost 8 months, and never had to supplement. I have no idea when we will stop. I'm just gonna follow her cues, we both enjoy it so I doubt it will be anytime befor she is at least a year and a half.

I am! Ethan will be 7 months on Thursday and I have not had to supplement at all. It has been a struggle to keep my milk supply up because of work and Ethan eating more solids but I am proud I have made it this far and I plan to keep going until he is a year.

Parker is 6 months old today and we are still breastfeeding! I'm thrilled that I've managed to make it this far. I remember back at 3 months, I thought we wouldn't be able to go to 4! I'm kind of torn at this point as to whether or not we are going to continue, though. Parker cut two teeth last week and has been biting me non-stop. Last night he damn near bit my nipple off! It was bleeding and everything. So yeah, we may end up going to formula...

Lucas turned 3 months on Saturday and I am still breastfeeding. I nurse him throughout the day and he usually gets 1 or 2 bottles of breastmilk in the evening so Daddy can feed him. I plan on nursing until he starts getting teeth . At that point we will see how it goes. If we struggle, then I will continue to pump and he will get his breastmilk via bottle. If there's no stuggle, we will probably go until he turns a year old, maybe more...who knows?!?!?! We will just play it by ear for now.

i have been going 6 weeks so far. i think bf is one of those take it in steps. once you hit a certain amount of time, then you re-assess the situation but so far so good, and i hope to do it for at least a yr.
and for you mamas who are having troubles or supplementing with formula, dont feel bad, some breast is always better than none!!! good job ladies!

I've on been bfing for 3 weeks, but my goal is to make it to 6 months without supplementing. I haven't had to so far (knock on wood). I think after you make it about 2 weeks, it gets easier.
I also want to thank all the women on here who have offered suggestions that have helped me out. THANKS!
