Ehh, not really. Just the other day my mom was looking at a list of SPD symptoms and didn't think Milo had even half of them. When I can look at the list and see every single one to a degree (some more obvious than others). At the last autism test when Milo was 24 months they said his eye contact was too inconsistent. So if she tries to use this as the same excuse this time to not diagnose him, I'm going to have to open whoop ass on her

Well Colton's next autism testing appt is in August. I also called the Help Me Grow program to try to get him into occupational and speech therapy, and just sent back the papers for that. Hopefully things will start falling into place soon.

Sorry I'm not on often ladies! I'm on fb literally all day running my home business (scentsy) and I always forget to log back in here.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been on since my last post (laptop broke =()
But I have something that's been bugging me lately.

I've had liam evaluated by psychologist for the cpse and she told me she believes liam is holding a lot of his anger in which is the reason why he's not talking. I talked to his therapist about this and they laughed at it (saying that is def not the reason). At first I thought it was off but of course, I'm here overthinking it. *sigh*

How many of you have young kids on the spectrum? What kind of therapies do they receive? Do some work better than others?

Hi I'm Christina

Jamil was diagnose at 20 months he got OT, speech, music and 6 hours of a Aba/pivotal responce training... Each helped a lot and I can't really say one was more important than the other

At 27 months he went to a school that did Aba as well as preschool circulium (included speech music and OT

At 3 years old he went to a school district program autism class with inclusion into the state preschool(amazing for him) he loved it... They also provided speech ad OT

Next year (August) Jamil is going Main stream kindergarden with an aide

My son will be starting a school that has all the services on sight. Thank God for insurance cause its EXPENSIVE! But the word here is that it's the best. Is it normal for my son to have sleep issues? Like its almost impossible for him to fall asleep, and he wakes up frequently in the middle of the night. Oh and he has started biting other people out of anger and frustration

Yes sleep issues are common, many kids don't make enough melatonin (induces sleepiness when the sun goes down) and Benift greatly from taking some a while before bed. Others do great with a weighted blanket... Sometimes neither hell but usually both do...

Unfortunatly aggression is common too and it's important to figure out what the function is and a more appropriate way to express what they want

Please help me

Im at the end of my rope, and I feel lost in my autism world. Cameron has been waaaaaay waaaaaay aggressive lately.. i've tried the blanket burrito, i've tried bear hugging, i've tried ignoring, i've tried redirection.. you name it, i've probably tried it... its gotten so bad, i've had to go to his pills to knock him out to stop him from hurting himself... he's slamming his head on everything.. so hard my mother could hear it on the phone while i was talking to her and he was 2 rooms away.   i've done nothing but cry the last 2 days because idk what to do anymore.

I am sorry. What about getting him checked by a doctor-could he have tummy pain, an earache, toothache, etc? I find taking the heel of my hand and massaging quite hard in Brady's middle back, and then a bit softer up his spine helps-idk? Also, and this is easier said than done, believe you me, but watch how you react to his outbursts and maybe log what happened before his tantrums-there may be something you can't see triggering it when you are so busy dealing with it. I feel for ya, really I do.
