It is amazing how babies soften a man. My hubby is a good guy and is very thoughtful but he is also a mans man... played foot ball in college and was a wrestler, loves to play hockey and drink beer... When our son showed up, man he was whipped! He is such a softy and I have to be "bad cop" or he would let Jack get away with murder! LOL He doesn't even like to go out anymore, he has become a total home body and just loves us all being together. Now that #2 is on the way, is trying to talk me into a third one! I told him we would have to wait and discuss that at a later date... like when this one is at least a year old! He is all about the family now! I love it, but it has been funny to watch him change!

Once again I am not with military family but my best friend is. I posted a message a while back that he would be coming home well.... Becca got the mothers day gift every army wife wants, Ryan came home May 8th. Mackenzie, 5 months when he left and 19 months now, didnt exactly recognize him by his appearance but recognized his voice immetiately. Becca said she wouldnt stop saying, "daddy"?

hey I have a question for you all.

My inspection sticker is about to expire and I was wondering how this works? Do I have to go back to the state it's registered to get it inspected (not hard to do, it's Texas), or can I get it done here? Just curious what other people do that can't just drive home and do it. I'd prefer not to have to drive back, but will if that's what I need to do.

You may be able to do it through the mail. Your best bet is to call the DMV where you registered the car and ask...let them know you (or your hubby) is in the military and not currently living in the state. They're usually pretty good about that. I had to re-register my car from FL when I lived in SC. I had to call too, and they were great about it.

I would check with the local DMV. Here in CA, they would rather you be registered in the state of CA and not the state of origin. They do however, wave a bunch of fees if you are not a resident of the state. For example, my hubby is a registered resident of TX so we get the TX fees but the CA tags. We save a few hundred dollars and don't have to do anything extra.

For the state INSPECTION and not REGISTRATION, you can just get it done wherever you are. My hubby's car was from MD and we got our cars inspected in NC all the time. Now we're in Cali and we're going to have to get ours inspected here next month! You can get them inspected wherever you live. Just make sure that since you're military your insurance is from the state you LIVE in (if they have a problem with insurance in LA and registration in TX, just point out that you're military and they shouldnt give you any trouble). We have California insurance, an MD vehicle, an NC vehicle, and (right now) NC inspection stickers on both!

Good luck!

NO problem. I was just amused that several people read it wrong! And I just had a huge hassle with all that registration stuff when we moved from NC to CA in Jan. So it was VERY fresh in my mind...oh the things we do as military families!
