Anyone ever have an NT Scan?

Usually scheduled between 12 and 14 weeks to see how the baby is doing... any info?

I think everyone has an NT scan, or at least alot of people do. It's nothing major. Just an ultrasound where they take measurements and look for physical deformities. And you go for bloodwork afterwards. It's fun to watch the baby on the screen for that long!

They measure the skin/muscle at the back of the neck to see how thick it is. If it measures thicker than normal it means you probably should get an amnio to check for Down's Syndrome. It's not 100% (like all the tests) but it gives an idea of the odds for certain defects.

Everyone over here has a 12 week scan its called a dating scan here they meassure the size of the head and give you a more acurate idea of when the baby is due

NT stands for nuchal translucency (nuchal means neck.) this scan, done at 13 weeks, really only measures that one thing, the thickness of the neck. the actual baby measuring scan is the big 20-week scan.

My husband is in school for ultrasound, so i get to hear allllll about it.

here its done differently the scan at 12 weeks is a dating scan and the 20 week scan is an anomally scan isnt it strange how different things are from one place to another
