my boobs got smaller and then bigger, when pg and BFing

I'm out of here I guess unless DD picks up nursing again in March when the baby gets here. I'm going to wean her starting tomorrow, I've kept nursing sessions very short the past few days because it's so painful for me, she isn't even latched on anymore and it feels terrible and makes me feel extremely angry so it's time for us to stop.
We've made it to 23 months and I still feel bad because I wanted to go longer.

good for you for sticking it out this long and who knows? maybe she will nurse again when the baby arrives. you've done great! nearly 2 years!

I def have days when I want to quit with my older one (30m), but then I also have the guilty feeling of cutting him off before "he's ready". but we gotta remember that it has to be good for both mama and baby/kid or else it can be a negative experience and that's no good either. and not a lot of people go this long (past 12-18m) anyway, so be proud of yourself for hanging in there as long as you have!

23 months is awesome. I'm sorry you have to wean before you're ready but you know you're doing what's best for your relationship with your daughter and that is what is most important.

I didn't know this thread existed  . I've seen many of you on the Breastfeeding (the toddler years) thread.

I am now in the 'Beyond' for both my children, my youngest turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. My oldest (of 2 children) will be 4 at the end of November and nurses 3-5 times a day.

DD is 18m and I am 25 weeks pregnant. Since around 14m she was only nursing at bedtime or in the morning but has been teething and got a cold and would now like it more often. The issue is, I dried up a couple months ago and it is sometimes very uncomfortable for me. I think this pregnancy is making my nipples more sensative. Or is it because she is creating suction where there is nothing to come out? Also, lately it feels like baby is kicking me when DD nurses. Any thoughts? I'm not sure if I should change what I am doing or just roll with it.

My milk dried up too and it feels really weird to nurse when there's no milk lol

My son eventually stopped a few weeks ago though(he's 2 1/2), but I'm really hoping he will pick back up when the baby's here

I found dry nursing to be very uncomfortable, my toddler would suck very vigorously to get a letdown that never came. I would sometimes limit her, I'd sing the ABC's or count to 10, or 5 depending on how much it was bothering me.

And my little would kick too, I found it to be kinda cute and my toddler was smitten with 'her baby' who was always kicking her.

do whatever you feel comfortable with. it won't hurt the baby. it's normal for it to be painful though, sometimes, for multiple reasons including those you described.
