Christmas for Babies- TOYS???

posted 20th Nov '07
What do you guys plan on getting your babies for Christmas (or any other holday you may be celebrating)? Does anybody have any toys for babies that they'd like to reccomend to others? I was thinking about buying my daughter the Leapfrog Learn & Groove Musical Table, the Fisher Price Sing a Long Stage, and the Baby Einstein Color Kaleidoscope Discovery Center. Does anybody have these? Are they worth buying? I am for sure going to buy her the Leapfrog Colors and Tunes Octopus, I fell in love with it when I saw it on a website for some reason lol. Any good suggestions on any other toys?

I just want to warn you, that most everyone I know who has that puppy HATES it. Supposedly its insane and just starts going off randomly and won't shut up lol. I don't know if its all of them or what, but I am scared to get near that thing cause I have heard how possesed it is .

I want to get Em an activity table, the Sing Along Stage, Peek A Blocks, something Elmo (she LOVES Elmo), some little drum thingys, and maybe a toybox.

I know I have wanted to get some ideas too. Ive looked at so many baby toys online but it' s hard to choose which ones to get. My mom is going to get my daughter the Fisher Price Music and Motion Choo Choo (i think a pp had mentioned) and thats really cute! Baby toys seem so expensive though! I just want to make sure I get my money's worth. Hopefully some more ppl will reply!

omg we did too!!! we used all of her gift cards from her baby shower, which was like waaayy too much to spend on a baby who's only gonna be 2 months old for christmas haha

i think you're right about the fisher price puppy. i bought it a few weeks ago and while it was under the buggy it was singing away. i then wrapped it at home and it started singing again!

Since our little Kelly bean will only be going on 4 months at Christmas and she has Down syndrome she is a little bit behind in development (she can't hold her head up all the time by herself) she won't be doing her own "opening". So hubby and I came up with a plan.... We are each going to shop for three things for her without telling each other what we got her. That way there is some suprise to what she got. (Plus we get to open more gifts - LOL) We set the limit on number of gifts cause 1) she won't know the difference and we already have SO SO SO much baby stuff and 2) our family is shopping for her too and we want to lower the risk of getting her something they did.
That said, I LOVE all the suggestions. We are actually shopping from the Toys R US differently abled catalog. The toys there promote stimulation for all the different senses. I can't help thinking that all the educational play toys on that catalog would be good for all babies.... I mean if you can give your baby the best start no matter the situation, why wouldn't you, right? Might be a good place to shop for all babies. IDK, just a thought.
I have 3 older "average" children and I am shopping age appropriate toys for them in that catalog as well. if you go to their website scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and on the left side is the icon for this specific catalog. What's really nice about shopping in that catalog, is that you can sort it by skill you would like to improve. And best of all - they are regular toys that you would buy for any kid, just the learning skills are pointed out for you and you can buy them "in-store" or online.

i dont know if we're thinking of the same puppy, but the girls i used to babysit had one and their 18 mo old LOVED it like nothing else!!! and i enjoyed the songs he sings. it never annoyed me like some toys do. you know how toys are though, especially the ones where u press buttons, they get accidntly turned on all time from other toys pushing up against it.

There was a thread on it months ago in one my mommy groups on myspace about it, all the kids LOVED it but it would go off at all hours of the night and drive the moms insane. One mom even took the batteries out and it would still do it. Its a cute toy, but I'm scared of it lol.
