I've only heard Libby as a nickname for liberty. I wouldn't use Libby alone tho.

I don't see a problem with Libby being a first name .

my little sister is called liberty, which has been shortened to libby, but also people mistake it being short for elizabeth. i suppose if you name them libby it cant really be shortened?
