my problem was that it wasn't opening up, and wasn't deep in enough

the most i got was 1/2oz and then i started to leak...........7 hours later! which in my mind is a huge accomplishment, and i'm sure that i'll just get better at inserting, and removing as i continue using it, and maybe i can hit the 12hr mark on the first or second day

That's awesome! I always start leaking around 8ml, which is way better than with tampons which I leaked through right away.

I'm just at the end of my period and this was my second cycle using the cup and it was so much easier to insert than the first time. Another thing I discovered is I have to dry the cup off really well after I empty it and rinse it out to make sure the tiny holes have no water in them. The holes are what help the cup open up. Does that make sense?

that's a good idea

i've been only taking it out and inserting it in the shower, so mine was always wet, and the holes could have been plugged up with the water..........idk..........
but if there's air that goes through the holes, it might make it easier to open up

now that i know what to look for when i insert it, it's so much easier........before i was literally breaking a sweat trying to put it in

Yeah, me too! And then sometimes I'd put it in and I could feel it sucking at my cervix. Bahahaha.

I sometimes empty mine in the shower but I make sure to wipe it off with a towel before putting it back in.

Ok I got my diva cup, and tried to insert it. AF is not here, I thought it might be easier to try w/o the mess. Um yea, I have NO clue what I am doing! I pushed one side down to insert, pushed back towards my tailbone. Then I think I pushed too far b/c I couldn't turn it, just couldn't get a grip on it to turn it. I guess I better keep practicing huh? haha! AF isn't due until the 1st week in April, so I have some time.

Any tips? Advice? TIA!

When you insert it, just leave it for a second to give it a chance to pop open on its own. Then, try to turn it. If you can't, pull it down a tiny bit and then push it back up, that usually helps me. If you are able to turn it easily that means it is inserted properly. The first few times I inserted it I had to use my finger to feel along the outside of the cup to make sure it was open. I would make a sweeping circular motion all the way around the cup.

Thanks! I will keep practicing, but I won't know if I got it right until AF gets here, lol.
I will make sure I stay home that day, just in case.

Whew ladies.....I guess I put the Diva cup too far up because I thought I was leaking and went to the bathroom and sure enough was. I went to get it out and could bearly touch the tip...I started feaking and relaxed and then push and was able to grab it...Well it came out really fast and stuff went everywhere....gross gross...I had to get in the shower to get my legs and stuff cleaned. My bathroom looked like someone had been murdered. Did anyone else know that you could stick it too far up there??

Got mine yesterday! No problems whatsoever so far! Not even one leak!  

how much can you all get in before it starts leaking?
for me i got to half an ounce (that's the second line) and than it's like the suction got lost, and i started leaking out
this is after 8 hours, and on my first day
today is my second day so i'll see how far i'll get with it, as it's still a heavy flow for me on day 2

My heavy flow day I had to change it every 3 hours, and yea it would leak a tiny bit when it was about 3/4 full. It also would feel "heavy" and I knew it was full.
But day 1, 3 and 4 I could go 8-12 hours

changing it every three hours seems really short to me

days 1 and 2 are heavy for me...........and i can get to 8 hours with that

i thought i read somewhere that someone could get it for 12 hours, and it would be almost full to the top.............or maybe i just imagined that

When I was changing it every 3 hours it was almost full. I had a really weird period this cycle. That only lasted about 19-20 hours though, then I was able to go the full 12. I mean the cup is only so big, so when you fill it you have to dump it. I have 1 super heavy day, then the other 3 are super light. I am weird, I know. lol
