? 4 Mommies with Rainforest Jumperoo

posted 15th Nov '07
I took my son to his 4 month well visit yesterday, has I had asked to the doctor if he thinks Kenny is ready for the jumperoo, since he has out grown the bouncer seat and the swing only has another few weeks till he is out of that. Plus any chance he gets, he is trying to sit up or stand up and is very boredwith the swing, bouncer, and bumbo now.
He said that Kenny is readytogo in an exersaucer now, he control is very good, legs are very strong, just put a towel around him since the seats are big for his age. But he would wait for the jumperoo till he was closer to six months old, and is more controlled with his movements. I think he may have confused the jumperoo with the doorway jumper/swing, since I have been finding that a lot of parents confuse the two. I think he would be ok in the jumperoo, just like in an exersaucer, to me they are very similiar at this point. He will be supervised while he is in, for sure. Is it just me being cheap and not wanting to spend $60 on something for him to use for a month or two that is damn near the same thing as I already have?
At what age did you ladies start to put your kids in their jumperoos? Did you do an exercauser first, then upgrade?
Thanks in advance for your replies!!

i think it would be fine for you to get him one. I got one when my son was about 4 months old and we would just put him in for 10 to 15 min at a time no t long. But he would pretty much just look at the lights he really didnt know how to bounce. But now he jumps like crazy in it and can play in for hours if we would let him. Its easy amusment for the baby when you are close by and need to get something done. Like we will usually put him in his and play while we are cooking dinner and eating and he absoloutely loves it.

i think in a previous post someone said that the jumperoos were just a little high up for younger babies. So she just put a pillow or a blanket under her little ones feet so he/she could reach to jump.

No sure how that goes as far as safety... I would think that they might be able to turn their ankles or something more easily. But babies are pretty limber so i'm not sure that matters.

i dont know, honestly I am confused on a ton of things. Being a first time mommy can be really frustrating when it comes to experiencing firsts. I'm just glad I have BG to come to and see what everyone else suggests.

My son just turned 4 months and he can barely reach the floor with the rainforest jumperoo..I just put a book under his feet and let him go at it. He loves it but only lasts maybe 15 min or so in it then wants to move on to something else.

i got aeris one, shes a short girl....after a few days it really helped her straighten her legs out considerably and her legs are SO much stronger now, shes to the point where she can ALMOST stand by herself while holding on to something and i give all credit to the jumper...she LOVES it...she too couldnt reach the floor at first but after getting the hang of it she was able to straighten her legs more and now she can. she was a few days under 4 months when we got it i think....but she did great and LOVES it...it makes things so much easier...i can just set her in it in the kitchen while i make myself lunch or something and shes just the happiest little girl lol

Look at the einstine one. The lowest level at it is lower then the other jumperoos. I put my daughter in hers once she had good head and neck control which was around she was almost 3 mos here are the pictures of her first time in it.

I took a baby safety class when I was 4 months pregnant, and learned a ton of helpful stuff. Safety issues with exersaucers are the reason why I didn't put one on my registry. Apparently, their have been a lot of babies who have broken their femurs (thigh bone) b/c while in the exersaucers. Mainly, because of being unsupervised, but also because of the plastic bottom being a bit slick on their little feet. I like the fact that my son's feet will be on a rug, I can't rely on those little grippies on his socks b/c he always kicks them off. LOL!

Thanks again ladies!

Thanks!! They Baby Einstein one was my orginal pick b/c of how low it goes, but when I went to three different Babies-R-Us and seen that they all were broken, I went with the rainforest jumperoo.
I wish the rainforest bouncers at the stores had the monkey clicking on them, I would have chosen another bouncer then. LOL!

We are still using it 11 mos later. We have never had any problems with it.

Cameron was in his rainforest jumper since he was 2 months old, he is so active it's the only thing to keep him entertained. He grew out of it though, he weighs 25lbs at 8 months and i think the max weight it 24lbs

When it is on, the monkey moves up and down from behind some grass. Well, when the monkey moves, it clicks and is very annoying. Almost like it is getting stuck. From a few posts a couple of months ago, a lot of girls said their's was doing the same thing after a couple of months.

Thanks, I just realized that you said Bouncer and not Jumparoo.

Sorry I was confused. I don't have the bouncer, so as long as the jumparoo doesn't make annoying clicking sounds i'm fine. haha
