Baby food question - moms with babies around 7 months

posted 14th Nov
About how much baby food is your little one eating? In one sitting and total?

I've been told that Emma eats too much in one sitting, and then others have told me that she doesn't eat near enough food during the day. I have NO idea how much is considered the norm.

Babies don't eat for comfort like we do. They eat till they are full. Some babies actually will sit and eat their baby food. My son was not big on it. Depends on the baby. I think she is fine. If she's hungry let her eat. If she gets too fat the doc will tell you during her next check up.

It usually varies throughout the day. For Breakfast and lunch he will eat one container of fruit or a veggie, and some cereal. For dinner he usually eats 2 containers of food and some cereal.

Quoting Mason and Maile's Mommy:“ Babies don't eat for comfort like we do. They eat till they are full. Some babies actually will sit and ... [snip!] ... the baby. I think she is fine. If she's hungry let her eat. If she gets too fat the doc will tell you during her next check up.”

No that isn't the question at all though...I was just looking for a comparison to see where she stood with other babies her age. She eats like a pro, and loves to do so. She's happy with how we do things...I wasn't intending on shoving food down her throat because someone else told me their kid ate 6jars of baby food or anything. She is nowhere near being fat, so that isn't even a concern of mine. I was just hoping to see what other babies her age were doing.

Allie eats cereal and a fruit or veggie for breakfast, a fruit or veggie for lunch and a fruit or veggie for dinner. She eats about 1/4 cup of cereal and around 2 oz of food for breakfast and anywhere from 2-3.5 oz of food for lunch and dinner. She nurses the rest of the day.

As long as your baby is gaining weight accordingly (I think they should be gaining aroung a pound a month now), don't worry about what others say. Use your own judgment, you are her mommy after all.
