Sick and Pregnant

Being Sick while you're pregnant has got to be the worst thing ever. I have a stuffy nose, sore throat and nasty cough. I am absolutely miserable!! Sleeping at night is hard enough without having to cough and blow my nose all the time. I have a Drs appointment today so hopefully they'll give me something to take. I haven't taken any medicine yet because I'm super paranoid about what I put into my body right now. What did you ladies take when you were sick and pregnant?? I need to kick this cold a.s.a.p. Help... please. LoL

Robitussin DM is what all my docs always recommended for me.

my ob gave me a little pamphlet when i first got pregnant and for colds i could take sudafed ((Buti only took it twice)) im so worried its gonna harm my little girl =/ so i would just take whatever they give u...i found out i had tonsilitis and sinusitis Monday but he wouldnt give me medicine without the consent of my OB

I am like you I wont take anything... Hot showers and hot drinks and stick my face over it. It doesnt cure it too quickly but makes me feel better for awhile.

I'm getting over the same thing and I feel crappy! The best thing I've done is showers (for the steam...it helps break it all up), hot tea, and a good night's sleep. Of course, the only reason I could sleep well is because I haven't slept in days because of all the sniffling and I finally got worn out! I'm going to the doctor today and if they say anything interesting about meds, I'll let you know.

Thanx for the advice Ladies, I really appreciate it. I'm off to take a hot shower and have my hubby make me some Hot Chocolate or something. When I get back from my Dr.s appointment later I'll let you guys know what they decided to give me. Thanx again everyone.

U are actually the same way I was I wouldnt take anything. Tylenol was a big thing also. For just a cold Im not sure if they will give you anything, I do remember when I was really sick they prescribed me something called "Z-Pack", works but thats for infection or something if itsa virul infection they dont give much. Yes it seems when you are pregnant and get sick you are 10x sicker than normal...Hang in there it will pass. Try a vaporizer with vic's in it works good and Robitussin DM, this is what they told me to take and works. Also try a hot shower with those shower soothers, they open you up a bit...Good luck@!

All last week, I was sick as a dog! I had taken Tylenol Cold Day/Night. It work really well! In all my medication list that the doctors' had given me, Tylenol was always on there. Just to make sure, I had ask the Pharmacist before purchasing it. Hope you feel better soon!

Hey Girls, I just got back from my Drs appointment. They told me I could take Sudafed but I also have to make an appointment with my Primary Care Dr. because they think I have a sinus infection. Yuck. So now I have a another appointment with the Primary Care Dr. for Friday morning.

On a Good note,the baby is doing great and we get to find out if it's a Boy or a Girl on December 6th. I can't wait!!!  

Thanx for all the advice everyone, I took a nice long hot shower and it made me feel a lot better for awhile. I have a feeling I'll be taking a lot of them between now and my Dr.s appointment on Friday. LoL

I dont take meds... i just take a warm bath and sleep.

Sleep Sounds wonderful... but it's hard to do when you have to blow your nose every 2 minutes  

i remember when i was pregnant and had the flu. it was by far the worst experience i have ever had. i seriously thought i was going to die =(

Thank God for this post lol i feel sooo sick and im scared to anything cause i dont want to do anything to harm the baby, so tommorrow im gonna go to the doctors cause today i felt soo feverish, so i feel even more tired and sick now that im pregnant, not fun. :0(

I was just sick two weeks ago and now I'm sick again. It feels like my head was run over by a dump truck. My doctor said I should just take Tylenol, rest and drink lots of liquids. Being pregnant and sick really is the worst! Plus you get sick so much easier.

I am sooooo sick of this stinkin cold! I took Tylenol Cold and...nothin! Didn't do squat! I'm getting some sudafed today *shakes head vigorously*. Somethings gotta give.
