Can the Doc be wrong?

I went to the Doc Tuesday fora u/s and got a chance to see my baby for the 3rd time!   As I talk to the Doc about my baby(and being that I don't know the sex of the baby) I tend to say 'he' then change it to 'she' or even say 'it'...the Doc heard my confusion and asked me ifwas I planning on knowing the sex of the baby...I said yes and she told me it was a girl!?!...Isn't it too soon for her to tell? I am only 10wks and 4 days!

How early can this be determined? Have any of you ladiesbeen told you where having a boy/girl and was told later that it was the opposite.

10 weeks is definitely too early O_o Sometimes 20 weeks is still too early...
I wouldn't put any credence in it just yet hun *lol*

ETA: There are many people who have been told a girl at 20 weeks, and then later surprised with "Oops, no it's a boy" at a later ultrasound or even the birth XD And vice versa too ;)

i 'd say 10 weeks is early too! i know quite a few people who thought they werre having one and ended up having the other.

10 weeks is WAY to early! Don't start painting the nursery pink until your 20 week ultrasound or birth of your baby! I hope it works out for ya 

PS-I had an ultrasound and was told my baby was a girl...I had the baby shower, etc.......and she was born with a penis! That was 12 yrs ago tho....I laugh about it now! LOL...Good luck!

Like the other ladies have said, way too early. But I've also heard that if they tell you that you are having a girl, it's still only a 50% chance they are right. But if they tell you that you are having a boy, it is about 90%. I guess it's pretty easy to hide a penis!

I'm having one of those 4d ultrasounds in dec, and they told me they guarantee the sex..so we'll see.

But they wouldnt even take me until I was atleast 22 weeks. Same with my dr, he said he wouldnt even look for that until I was past 22 weeks. So 10 week is WAY too early...it's too small to see it's parts!! 

10 weeks is way to early!!!! i went for my ultrasound at 16 weeks and they had trouble determining that the baby was a boy! i did find out that day tho that i am having a little boy but when i go back for my second ultrasound im going to make sure of it.

I knew it was too early! Thank ladies!

PS - It doesn't matter what I have, as long as he/she is healthy!

your doc may have been going by the heart beat. they say girls heart beat is slower than boys i think? it may be the other. both mine were over 150 bmp when they first found them

I think it is "Under 140 is Boy, Over is Girl"
But that tends to not be true a lot of the time XD It's just another old wives tale...
There are a million and one ways that people say you can find out early, but really, there is no 100% way to know until birth (aside from a really good ultrasound pic later in pregnancy).

you can't judge by the heartbeat, my son's was between 157 & 165 the entire time.   but why have you had 3 U/S already? are you high risk?

yeah i know its just a wives tale but if at ten weeks she told her the sex i would assume thats what she went off. we have had 3 realy good ultra sound pics. i think my boys are flashers! lol anytime they do one the person is like oh yeah for sure boys! they are already showing off thier penises!

Honestly I have heard of people hearing the sex that soon. There is some 'tissue' or something 'down there' weather it is a boy or a girl...but depending on what way it is facing it is a boy or girl. But I will tell you this. Doctors are wrong ALLLLLLLLLL the time about TONS of stuff. Lol. Just cuz they are doctors doesn't make them right...Ever! Their job is to give an educated guess. That's why I don't mind going to school for 8 years to give educated guesses! :-D

I would DEFINATELY not presume it's a girl though. I'm sure they will give you another ultrasound so you can find out :-) Congrat's on the baby!

YEA I THINK IT IS BECAUSE I SAW ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNELL THAT UR BABY STARTS TO BECOME A MALE OR FEMALE STARTIN IN THE BEGINNING OF UR 3RD MONTH..IM 18 WEEKS AND IM JUST ABOUT TO FIND OUT WHAT IM HAVING IN A WEEK...
