stripping membranes

posted 8th Nov '07

okay so I went the drs on Tuesday and she stripped my membranes but its Thursday now and I am not in labor yet... I have been having alot of cramping but no labor so here are my questions...

If you had it done and you went into labor what kind of labor did you go into to contractions or did your water break?

if you had it done and did not go into labor did you still have the cramping for so long?

How many days did it to go into labor for the ones that went into labor?

any info on this would be great i am going insane waiting to go into labor she is already so big and i am ready to have her and the dr stripped my membranes i thought that would mean that i would go into labor. someone please help me understand this all. i am so confused. thank you

When my daughter was born they stripped the membranes and FULL labor didn't start for two weeks. First alittle fluid leaking, and the water never actually broke. Dialation was horrible too. Twenty seven hours of labor. Only two hours of hard labor and four good pushes and she was out. Give it time. You'll know.

Monitor your cramping. Is it contractions or just cramping? Are you spotting? Have you already lost your mucous plug?

i lost my mucus plug over two weeks ago. and i am already dialted to 3 adn efaced 80% before she stripped my membranes. i think everything is just cramping not contractions the first day i thought they were contractions and i went to the hospital and they werent they just sent me home.

Nipple stimulation. It works. Trust me. I'm thirty four weeks and was not dialated at all. Last night I was telling my hubby about how stimulating the nipples can cause labor. So he jumped on line and started reading on it. He played with one nipple for fifteen minutes and the contractions started five minutes apart. Next thing we knew it wouldn't stop. We went into labor and delivery and sure enough they were reading on the monitor. They gave me a shot to stop it because I'm only 34 weeks and it slowed the contractions and stopped the dialation. I'm at a 2 now. Look into that! It may work for you.

Then go for it! Your nipple will get really sensitive, but it's worth it. I know that at 38 weeks I'll be all about the nipple stimulation. Lol. It worked for me, and I'm ready for him to be here now! Just alternate nipples ever fifteen minutes and start timing your contractions when they start. If they are at least five minutes apart, for one hour, lasting a minute each, head to labor and delivery. If you feel them slowing down start rubbing again. It make take an hour or two to get them consistent. With me it didn't, but it won't hurt to try.

thank you so much for all your help. I hope it works for me cause i am just ready to give birth now. i have one baby and i loved giving birth it was awesome im headed out to go walking right now and when my son goes down i am going to the nipple thing and see if i can't ahve a baby today.
