Earn points through member referrals

I just launched a referrals feature that will let you send links to other people you think would enjoy BG.

To try it out, you first need to opt-in to the advanced features beta if you haven't already.

Within your advanced features, there will be a link under a new section, "Earn points through Baby Gaga" that let's you "Refer others to Baby Gaga". Using this page, you can generate links that you can send to others. If they follow those links and sign up under BG, then we'll notify you somebody new joined under your link. If that member then becomes active, you'll be awarded points for referring them. You can check in on the status of your referrals at any time and see how your newly referred members are doing.

You can share your referral links anywhere, e.g. on other sites, on your blog, myspace, or send to select facebook friends by private message. How you share your referral link is up to you, as long as you use the link we generate for you, you'll be credited with that referral should they sign up.

This is part of a larger project to reward existing members who contribute to the community as a way to earn free points. Please post any questions/comments here.

this is neat! I think i kind of like this idea 

What all does the new member have to do to be considered active??

An active member is a legitimate account (i.e. no duplicate accounts created just for the purpose of getting points) who has started to interact with the forums. It's very easy to become an active member, just enough so that it's not just an empty profile sitting around.

ok so i put the link there and he just signs up like regular caus ei mean th elink goes to my profile?

There's no way we can get credit for ones that already joined huh? Example- I had a friend sign up literally yesterday and I JUST now saw this... So since she already signed up without me seeing this I cant get credit for her?

Same thing happened to me.

Unfortunately, we can only automatically give credit if your friend or person that joins used the special link code provided. The feature is still in beta, and so is available to those that join the beta program for the advanced features.

i had 2 friends joined and use the code but i didnt get any points for it   why?

my hubby made an account how long does it take for them to become active?

How long does it take for some one to become an active member?

I am using the only link I see to refer a friend yet it seems like the same link that anyone would use so how can I get the points?

My niece signed up for an account at my house, and it was marked as a duplicate account. We share a wifi connection, WTF. I want my points!
