I believe that you can change up into the 2nd trimester but I know once you get closer to the 30 week mark most doctors will not accept you. I called the OBGYN clinics in my area and spoke with the receptionist about the doctors that were vbac supportive but I would think someone in labor and delivery could tell you those answers as well. And I can not remember where I found it but I think on the front page of this thread there is a link with the states and hospitals that have bans on VBACs so hopefully that will help or you can find it through google. And correct me if I am wrong but I believe there are different levels of HPV and if you have the genital herpes one that is the only one that will affect your vaginal birth (if you are in the middle of a flare up) but if you don't have herpes then it shouldn't make a difference.

Hey ladies. I had my dd 3 years ago this month and now due in June. I was wondering if yall have had any lower abdominal pain from time to time. I'm worried that the pain will cause something bad to happen during delivery or if it was normal to still be sore. I've had this before I got pregnant again.

Also Does anyone know how much on average a Doula cost?

the pain is probably from scar tissue (more like a burning feeling in that area) and yes it is normal to have some pain from time to time plus you will also have round ligament pain on top of that. Just be really careful with quick movement side to side (like twisting or getting up out of bed) as you get bigger. Doulas range in price by area. Around here it was about 450.00.

Oh ok. I do think Its now the round ligament pain just worries me. Ohh ok thank you. I'll be in texas for the delivery so hopefully its around that price. Thats not bad at all.

I have seen some say it is around 250.00 so maybe you will find one for around that. I was going to use a doula but talked myself out of it in the end b/c of the price but I do think having a doula will put your mind at ease a little. I had a very supportive doctor and my nurse in the hospital really acted like a doula and was very encouraging about my wishes and helping me have a great experience with my VBAC

See that's what I really need, a support person, someone to monitor me when I'm laboring at home, and making sure I don't rupture. Honestly, I'm scared to just have DH there with me lol, I'm scared he won't be much help. He wasn't able to be their for the first birth and has never seen someone in labor. $250 would be a lot better if I could find it for that price. This will probably all be coming out of our taxes so we don't have to hugely budget.

I would definitely look around. I know here there are some doulas that do it free even as part of their training! you can find one on the cheaper side I'm sure. the only reason I am not getting one is because my midwife has a senior midwife that will also be there so... *shrug*

Ahh, That would be awesome to have two midwives. I'm seriously scaring myself with this 1% chance of rupturing. I know this might not be the best reason but my number one reason to do this is because I seriously don't feel like I did my job laboring and having contractions with my first born. I feel incomplete and use to be depressed about it. I made it to 39 weeks with no contractions then I got cut since she was breached .

Do you think the doula would help with different ways of turning the baby is this one is breached too?

yea I only have 2 because the one I have is not *officially* a certified midwife yet. she's almost there though. so she has another one to guide her.

it's actually even less than 1%!   but I can see why you'd still be afraid. I'd think a doula would help out w/ that stuff... there's a lot of people even on here that could help you out. my friend IRL had a VBAC in the hospital, her daughter was breech until 38 wks I think. like, she'd be breech then flip head down, then flip breech again lol. She went to a chiropractor, it helped a lot apparently. Also there is a site everyone mentions, I think it's spinningbabies.com

ooooh I'll defiantly check it out. Thats my second fear lol. So scared he won't be head down, I'll try anything that doesn't involve the doctor causing so much pain. I really wish I would have talked to other mama's about how they got their babies to flip head down. With DD I was young and just did what the doctors told me to do.

well you have some time at least before you should start getting worried about it   I was afraid of it too even though my first wasn't breech. but apparently her head is very low so yay, lol. just because your first was breech doesn't mean this one will be too! & yea that's how I was w/ my first as well. I didn't really research stuff, just listened to the doctor. I think doctors are very useful, but should not be involved in pregnancy related things unless it turns life threatening kwim. That's how it is in most other countries so I hear.

Hi ladies! I'm Trisha, hoping for a vbac for this baby. She's due in mid May. O.b. Is all for vbac, but said she won't let me go past 41 weeks.

Im considering hiring a doula but am lost of that process as well.

I'm almost 36 weeks and a bit terrified. I've never been in labor, my twins were a scheduled c-section. I've started the red raspberry tea and have hired a doula. I listen to the hypnobabies tracks but couldn't afford the actual class, I don't want that to be my downfall. My SO is COMPLETELY supportive and we are both actually still sad about the fact we couldn't afford a homebirth. So now our goal is a hospital homebirth. I just want some other mamas who have been through this to talk to.

Sorry if I'm rambling my brain is all over the place these days.

I hear the chiropractor helps considerably with getting breech babies to turn. I went to the chiropractor all throughout my pregnancy for my hips. Also, this slide show video shows a technique she tries to turn her breech baby.

I had a VBAC home birth, and everything went perfectly well. I had my midwife, her senior (they go to each others' births), and an apprentice midwife   I think everyone feels a little incomplete and incompetent when they're robbed of the birth experience. Just believe you can do it!
