ok so I have a question regarding VBA2C. I am TTC number 3, and I want a vaginal birth, to the point that I will refuse a c-section.
Ok so a little background first,
my first : I went into labor on my own, water broke on it's own, I progressed great, 1cm every two hours or so. I started puching about 20 hours in and after 2 hours, they said she was in the Occiput Posterior (face up, forehead trying to come out first) postion and she got stuck in the birth canal, her dad could see her hair, but no matter how hard I tried I could not push her out, her heart rate started dropping with each contraction so we ended up in a c-section.
My second, my Ob was willing to try a VBAC, my daughter was already 2 when I got my BFP so there was plenty of time between the pregnancies, anywho I was working at the time and had some preterm labor so at 32 weeks I ended up on bedrest and was using up my meager 12 weeks of FMLA leave, so I decided to just schedule the c-section at 39weeks so I wouldn't waste post partum time with my son. I ended up getting terminated from my job anyway, so I am pissed that I didn't just wait!!
Ok so now my son is 22 months old and I am not pregnant yet, so there will be a good amount of time between my pregnancies again. There is no reason at all why I shouldn't be able to have a vaginal delivery and I know this!
If I were to write up a form stating that I refuse an elective c-section and that I will have a trial of labor first, but that I know all the risks and am assuming all liability, and that I may be going against my doctor's advice, but the doctor will not be held responsible if I have uterine tearing. And then I get the note notarized and I sign it, can the doctor deny me if I come in to the hospital in labor? Or can they drop me as patient after a certain point?
I think the reason most doctors don't like to try VBACs or VBAMCs is because they are afraid of the risks and getting in trouble, but if I absolve them of all responsibility and take full responsibility for my birthing choices can they really deny me?

Not sure how they would go about that but I would just look for a hospital that doesn't have a ban on VBACs and a doctor that will allow for you to try. It might be hard but you can find a doctor or midwife that will work with you and BTW I had a c-section with my first due to baby being face up and had not issues with my VBAC   . What you want to do makes sense but that paper means nothing even if you signed it and so forth. I wish you well with your future VBA2C   You can do this and I hope that you find a doctor that you love. I would look for the ICAN chapter i your area for names of doctors and hospitals that support this.

im super curious about my situation and really need advice, or opinions. i had a c section with my first because i got dialated to a 9-9.5 then back to 8 and back and forth and with my dr knowing that he doesnt think that id be a good canindate for a VBAC but he did also say well know closer to the due date. im just curious if that happened to anyone else who had a successful VBAC. my husband thinks im crazy to want the experience of a "real" birth but my motherly instinct desperately wants it. during my c-section i lost 2 pints of blood which is why he is kind of afraid is doing is normal. please anything helps

were you given any pitocin with your first? I have heard of the cervix changing like that due to swelling when pitocin is used (and I have heard of long labors this happening). It doesn't mean baby won't fit. I dilated to 10 with my first and she was facing upwards and pushed for 2 hours to have a c-section but with my vbac I dilated super fast and had not issues with pushing. If you doctor is saying that we will see as you get closer to your due date then your doctor does not sound VBAC friendly and will more than likely try to talk you into a c-section and use excuses near the end to convience you to just schedule a c-section. I didn't look to see how far along you are but I would look into another doctor if you are able. That is just my opinion though.

yeah pitocin was used, cause i went to the hospital because it seemed like my water broke, but it only "leaked" so i wasnt in labor completely yet so they say, and so they had to break it and give me pitocin then almost 30 hours later in the hospital, it came to a c-section. when i talked to him he seemed pretty open to it, but my husband shows major concerns of me doing a VBAC but id love to do it naturally, (with pain meds of course) thank you so much. i heard pitocin changed labor a whole lot.

Yeah I would almost bet that your cervix began to swell from the pitocin and long labor. My first I had pitocin and it last 19 hours before I had a c-section but with my vbac I had her out in less than 6 hours of contractions. It went fast and was pretty easy. They broke my water at 7 cm to put a monitor on her head and then I asked for the epidural and it was placed just as I was 9cm. So no pain with pushing   It really was the birth that I would have ever dreamed of. Chance of rupture is 1% but chance of something going wrong with a repeat c-section is 5% so tell him the odds are worse with a repeat. My husband was alittle nervous when I told him what could happen if there was a rupture but I believe everything would fall in place and it did   Just believe your body can do it and try to stay in shape with walking and doing squats throughout your pregnancy but most importantly make sure you doctor is 100% supportive or he/she will push for a c-section at the last minute and try to scare you out of a VBAC. I also did evening primrose oil starting around 35 weeks to help soften my cervix.

Thank you soooo much! ill probably be keeping in contact with you, more for support. i didnt know the chance of something going wrong on a repeat is 5% which might help with my battle with my husband. lol i know hes just afraid cause of all the blood i lost and how i looked afterwards. its just nice to know someone gets that i want to have a normal birth! lolc-section just isnt enough!! you watch those baby shows and see them getting to hold baby asap, and i want that! ill definitely be talking to my doctor. thank you for all your advice! it makes so much sense about the pitocin, i just never thought about it! haha

I was very anemic after my c-section as well and my color was horrible for some time. I felt so much better after my VBAC and even got up 30 mins after having her and walked to my wheelchair to go to our room   It was quite the change from laying in bed for 12 hours then slowly getting up to walk around.

you;ve given me such hope!!   haha, convinced my husband to do some research tomorrow then talk to the doctor to see if he would actually let me try to do one. i did a little research already and it said theres more danger of bleeding out with any c-section so im hoping that kind of information helps him join my team. i just know ill be resentful at whatever if i dont even get the opportunity. i know with my first i went in to the hospital WAY too early.

Well I will be glad to chat with your hubby if you would like but I feel that in most situations vbac is the way to go for both baby and momma   I had that feeling to want to labor and have a vaginal birth and had postpartum depression after my c-section b/c I was very upset with the way things played out. I didn't even want to have another child if I couldn't at least try for a vaginal birth. I found a wonderful doctor and then the rest is history   I hope you get the same birth b/c mine truly was a wonderful experience all the way to the end.

WARNING: Pretty long!

Whats the chances of me getting my VBA2C? Now, okay this is my back story. ( No, im not pregnant it's when I get pregnant again I want to know how good of chances cause I am denying a csection unless it's medically necessary) Anyways, Okay my first child ended in an emergency csection because my placenta had ruptured causing her heart rate to drop dramatically. It was so scary. I got pregnant again when she was around 5 and a half months or so. I had talked to my doctor which had told me if my cervix was favorable I would be able to have a vbac, or if I go into labor on my own. And by damned did I try and get my cervix favorable, and sure thought I did too because the friday before I had my son my doctor had told me I was almost at a 3. Let alone I was starting to get itchy, like I was getting PUPS or something. I went in on I believe it was a Saturday and they took a ton of blood didn't say anything was really wrong with me. Monday I got a call telling me that something was low, and that they needed to do a csection by the next day. I was nervous, and not ready by all means. When I got in there Monday night, I sure was having contractions. She had checked me told me I was nearly a 2? I was confused cause I was just almost a 3 just that friday. Anyways, I had talked to my doctor that morning to see if I could do my VBAC. He checked me and told me I wasn't even a 1. I was very much more confused! Like how the hell can I go from an almost 3 to not even a 1. So he said he couldn't do it. Which very much upset me. I was wheeled in the OR, and as my husband was getting ready and everything they did the spinal tap, well they must of done it too high cause I still felt everything from my hips down. So of course, they had to put me to sleep. Horrible. My husband was still not able to see his child born.

Anyways, if I were to get pregnant in the next 2 years, and if I find the right doctor to do a VBA2C do you think if I did the right things in my pregnancy (ate healthy, control my diabetes, do everything I can do) I would possibly get my VBA2C that I absolutely am dying for. Like, everyone else around me or was pregnant had a great vaginal delivery, I just want that.
