I know that you may want him there but you also increase your chance of rupture with induction. But if you have a medical reason then yes I would say try an induction before just letting them schedule a c-section. I would really reconsider the induction thing and just let your body do what it needs to do and that will increase your chances to a successful VBAC. I had one in January and I can tell your my experience was wonderful and I carried my child til I went into labor at 39 weeks and 3 days. My doctors policy was no induction unless I was already in labor and labor stalls. She also did not want me to go much past 40 weeks but some doctor will let you go to the 42 week mark by having NST's and such to monitor the baby's stress levels. Did you go early with your first? If you went almost term I would just have him ask off of work around your due date and if you go into labor before then I would just try to have a back up plan so that a friend or family member can be with you. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

I agree.. with a vbac, your risk of uterine rupture doubles with any form of induction!

You have to be careful with inductions katrina as they can increase your chance of having an assisted birth or c section if the baby isn't ready. People say the best thing is to wait till you go to labour naturally. You are due round xmas and i can see that would be a problem for your partners work but you best chance of vbac is waiting it out. You get induced early, head is too high, they break your water, then they start pit and before you know it "failure to progress" . Lots of the ladies in here who have vbac'd successfully have waited sometimes til nearly 42 weeks and have got their wish.. I'm ot due till Feb but have taken alot of what the other have said on board

Hello ladies!

I just wanted to update and let you all know that while I did not get my VBA3C due to complications that came up at the end of my pregnancy (very low amniotic fluid, high blood pressure), I am 100% completely fine with it. I feel that this c-section, this journey, and this baby have healed me and I couldn't be happier with how things turned out. I am currently enjoying my sweet baby girl and healing up nicely from surgery (which was quick and went off without a hitch...even though my third c-section was hampered by excessive adhesions and scar tissue holding my baby in).

So, no need for "I'm sorry" or "That sucks" or anything like that. I am not feeling one bit badly about having another c-section. I really am happy and satisfied that this was the way it needed to be done.

Congrats on your new bundle of joy! I am so glad you are recovering nicely and that you are at peace with everything! How much did your baby girl weigh?

She was 7lbs 12oz. I think I posted about this earlier in the thread a few pages back, but I was being threatened with the "big baby" card at 37 weeks because she supposedly weighed 7lbs at that ultrasound! If that were really so, at half a pound a week in the last month, she would have been 9lbs... So that's further proof that last trimester ultrasounds are not accurate and shouldn't be trusted when making the decision to either induce or have a c-section. I'm very glad I didn't go along with a c-section at 39 weeks because of "size" and let her cook for 2 more weeks. She's healthy, she's gorgeous, and she's developed more than she would have been at 39 weeks and would have only been 6lbs and some oz if I'd allowed myself to be talked into it.

The biggest thing I learned is that I can advocate for myself. I never could before. I can speak up when it comes to my care and know that I have a right to decide what's right for me. And more importantly, when the time came to make the right decision for my baby, I was able to.

AND 9lbs is totally possible, my full term VBAC baby was 9lbs

I am so glad that you have found your voice through this journey. I think that is what we all feel we were robbed of. So even though you had to have a repeat cesarean it was on your terms and with true informed consent. Congratulations on your little girl!

That is great and you are so right about letting your baby bake alittle longer. I agree the ultrasound would have put my child at over 8 1/2lbs when I had her and she was only 7lbs 5oz. I am the exact way now about being more vocal and know I can stand up for myself when it comes to things like this

That's great that you got to advocate for yourself when you knew your LO would be healthier for it! Congratulations on your LO & enjoy

I was induced during my vbac. My water broke and I didn't start contracting. Pitocin sucks, but it did it's job.
