I had my 20 wk appointment today, and had a long conversation about my VBAC/TOLAC. I'm super happy about it. My OB said he would be comfortable letting me go to 41+6 before he would want to step in and intervene. He is also on the same page as me regarding pain meds and pitocin (I don't want either). I am so relieved.

Hi, I am April. Preparing to have my baby number 3. I have 1 angel baby, a daughter and a son, as well as, 2 step children. I tried to give natural birth with my son with cytoec, and then we tried pitocin. After 38 hours of labor I still hadn't dilated past 2 cm. My blood press was 186/119 with mag sulfate already in my IV. They said I was going into shock and took my son emergency c-section with a local anesthetic.
I tried for a VBAC with my daughter, but developed pre-e and gestational diabetes.
I went into labor at 35 weeks with contractions every 2 minutes on the NST. I didn't dilate again, and my blood pressure went up. They took my daughter through c-section. This time I had an Epi instead of a local.
I am wanting to try for a VBAC after 2 c-sections. Knowing my history that I have given to you all.. do you think this would be an option? My Ob says no, because I don't dilate and my risks are high for the baby and I. I asked other Ob's and they said any added health risks exclude me from the option of a VBAC. It has always been my dream to have a natural child birth. With my son I didn't even want to have pain meds, but I have never gotten this chance.

I was curious if anybody cold help me out. Im leaning toward a VBA2C. According to Ican online, in 2009 VBACS were allowed at my hospital L.M.C in Woonsocket RI. in 2009. I was not given a true reason as to what happened during my first delivery to require a C Section, so those reasons should not happen again. I labored for my second at home, calmly before arriving at 5cm but my doctor advised a C section since 13 months apart is too close.
I have a new much OLDER doctor. Im nervous to have this conversation, and or him to say no. My mother already said that its not going to happen. Not very helpful. My DH allows me to make the choice for my body. If my labor goes like my second even by a little bit there would be no issue. Fast, and wonderful.
Im trying to read up on how to prepare my body and pain management.
Im always told how well my scars healed.
Im not sure what to do. Im 31 weeks pregnant. My next appointment is the end of July, and I hope to have the courage to ask for a VBA2C, since apparently nobody asks.
Im more worried about not even being heard, then the actually 1% risks.

you should definitely ask as soon as possible so you can start having the discussions with your dr. I am having a vba2c and my dr told me that it is actually riskier for me to have a section then to have a vaginal birth.

You can call the hospital and ask if they allow vbacs. Mine says it doesn't on ican, but my dr has delivered several in the year she has been delivering at that hosptial.

My previous Doctor said she would with my second, but highly wanted a Section due to the closeness. This is the same OBGYN office. Hopefully that gives me something.

Hi Ashlee!
I'm Stephanie. I also have one son (almost 2) and am 22 weeks now (Due Nov. 12th) I am also planning to have a homebirth VBAC! I don't personally know anyone who has had a VBAC at all. Most of my family is very supportive of my decision for a homebirth, though because my MIL used to be a midwife and two of my SIL have had very successful homebirths. I'd like to know how things go for you! I've recently borrowed a book from my midwife that has different stories about different women's VBACs. It's very inspiring

I've recently borrowed a book about different women's personal VBAC experiences! One story that was really inspiring was a woman who had 4 C-sections, all classical incision.. then went on to have a VBAC, so it is very possible!! I believe it is most likely riskier and may be harder to find someone to deliver your VBAC with a classical incision. As long as you have a healthy pregnancy and it is not too close together, you shouldn't be at high risk although doctors will tell you otherwise. Also, my midwife told me many statistics that I can't recall the numbers to.. But if you are induced or augmented in any ways (as is the norm in hospitals these days), it increases your chance of uterine rupture. The chance of uturine rupture in the first place with a VBAC is very, very slim though.

from what I have read with a classical incision uterine rupture is higher. A normal low transverse has less than 1% chance of rupture rate. According to this site your risk is 4 to 9%. Are you sure your uterus is cut in this direction or just your stomach scar is up and down?

http://www.everydayhealth.com/health-center/vbac-type-of-past-incision.aspx

A woman with a vertical (classical) incision has the greatest uterine rupture risk. About 40 to 90 out of 1,000 women (4% to 9%) with this type of vertical incision scar have a uterine rupture during a trial of labor.2
