It amazes me how many people believe that they will be banned from sending their children to school if they decided not vaccinate

No problem! I thought it would serve a purpose here. I added it to the Researching Vaccines Sticky.

Okay this is only semi related, but I got into a vent today about getting into it with a nurse that refused to listen to me when I said I didn't want to give Ethan a swine flu vaccine. In my experience, healthcare professionals are eerily pushy of vaccines and not at all educated about them.

I selectively vaccinate, if anyone is wondering lol.

ETA- Mississippi is also full of idiots.

LOL! Yes actually I agree with your post. When I tell doctors or nurses that we don't vaccinate they look at me like deer in the headlights for a moment...and then start handing me "information pamphlets". I'm not just som hippy dipty granola mum who doesn't vax b/c I don't want to harm my baby's "aura" or some other bullsh*t   It was only after an enormous amount of research on BOTH sides that I decided the bad outweighed the good of vaccines. BTW I was vaccinated as a child and I got whooping cough when I was 2, and mumps when I was 5. So I'm proof that vaccines don't always work...but I was still put at risk by the vaccine itself. My mum couldn't understand when I chose not to vax. She said, "But you and your brother were vaccinated and you're both fine!" I always joke, "Sure mum, I'm "fine", but maybe I might have been a genius!"

Haha yeah! Not to mention its like they haven't even read the pamphlets anyway, even if they are incomplete info half the time.

I lost my faith in doctors when a doctor told me that my son did not have an ear infection, I asked for a second opinion, and the other doctor was like "WOAH he has a terrible ear infection!" Then the first doctor wanted to prescribe amoxicillin, and I asked for him not to have penicillin, and she said there is no penicillin in amoxicillin.   THEN she gave him augmentin (contains penicillin). AND THEN he really just had RSV and no infection

OMG!!! I would have been livid! Yeah my Df was super paranoid about me drinking coffee when I was bf (it never affected my babies when I bf, nor did anything I ate) b/c he was convinced that's why she was colicky (good lord) So he asked dd's ped (who must also be a coffee expert ) if it was ok that I have coffee while I bf b/c dd was really fussy. The frickin' ped goes, "Well ONE cup a day is ok, but even DECAF has caffeine in it," Are you f*cking kidding me? Thanks for throwing me under the bus doc! I only drink lattes which have far less caffeine than brewed, and even when I tried NOT drinking any coffee, she was just as fussy! Not only was the doc a coffee expert, but he must also be a lactation consultant. So after that, even if I had a decaf, DF would be on me about how many I'd had that day!!   I frickin' HATE doctors!

I wont be vaccinating my baby and it is great to see other mothers that feel the same way! I refer the patients in my office to this website all the time. It is a great resource for you to get the exemption letters for school, but I have also found a hospital letter so the do not give your newborn and vaccines in the hospital.
