My daughter has a brown spot on her greenish blue eyes. its only on one eye. She is 21/2 mos old. I was just wondering if you or your children have eye freckles and when they showed up.

My oldest daughter, now 28, was born with a dark brownish red eye freckle on one eye next to her iris. Her eyes are naturally dark brown. She just gave birth last week to a little boy and he has a light brown eye freckle on one eye, higher up. I assume these are hereditary, although I'd never heard of them before my daughter was born. It has caused her no problem and the only thing we noticed is that her freckle darkened a bit when she started going outside as a child.

I assume they are hereditary. I read on a medical Web site that when your eye doctor checks your eyes, he checks that the freckles haven't changed although it is nothing to worry about. My blue-eyed sister and blue-eyed me have one in almost the same spot. My daughter has medium brown eyes, but even she has a freckle in one in about the same place. That's why Ii think they are hereditary. In the movie Chinatown, Faye Dunaway's character has one that Jack Nicholson's character notices...I think the freckles are romantic and one more thing that makes me unique while still connecting me to my kinfolk!
