Quoting Momma in the making:" Hi all   Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Erin, my husband's name is Robert and we are hoping ... [snip!] ... been having a really hard time dealing with my infertility lately and could really use some support. Hope everyone is well!"

Welcome! DH and I struggled with infertility for 3 years. We decided on adoption in January of 09 and our first son was placed in our arms in Dec of 09. We welcomed our second son just 14 months later.

PM me if you'd like to chat about infertility stuff or adoption stuff. I will say I had to "grieve" over the loss of NOT being able to get pregnant. It's hard to let go of...

Thank you so much for the welcome   I appreciate it. I hope that some way, some how we will be able to have a baby. Adoption is so expensive. We are trying to figure out a way to afford it.

My sister passes away in 2010 and left behind her 9 month old son. Then he was being taken care of by my parents, but my mother passed away in March of this year and then my father in July. I thought that I would be given custody if my 15 year old brother and now 2 1/2 year old nephew since I'm next of kin, but that isn't the case. I was told I have to hire a family law attorney even though I have no one fighting me for them. I have no children of my own yet, but like to think that me and my fiance of 9 years can have a little one of our own someday. There is so much I don't know at 23.

Hi!

I don't know where else to post asking for help...

I have a friend who is pregnant and due in December. She asked me recently if anything happens if I would be willing to adopt her baby. I said yes, but wrote it off as mostly nerves due to whatever internal or external issues she may have.

She just asked me again today, so I think she might be serious. I want her to be able to keep her baby, but if she chooses I also want to be able to adopt the child.

Where do I start? What is the process/cost involved? From experience, what is the easiest way to go through the adoption process if the adoptive family and the birth mother have already found one another?

ETA: Didn't read the op, doing that now! lol.

I don't know about you specific situation, but I am in the process of adopting my brother and nephew since both of my parents have passed away as well as my sister and I was told that I need to get a family law attorney and in my state (Florida) I have been told it will cost between 3-5 thousand dollars. Does she know who the father is?

That will make it easier as long as he agrees to the adoption. I wasn't trying to be rude either by asking, it's just that if not they have to run a search in some states called a putative father search to give the father an option to take the child rather than someone else. I've learned that it's a process. I thought that since I was next of kin they would be given to me and that's not the case. I have to go to court and everything : /

I believe he is stalking her. They have a court date for some sort of restriction and stalking charge, so I am not sure I will have to worry about him.

I would think that the only way he wouldn't have rights to keep the baby is if he is unfit and abusive. Not sure though. Good luck to you and her. I hope everything turns out.

I'm hoping we won't even have to go this route, and that she'll be able to keep her baby. But I'm here if she needs me to be, and I love babies so I would have no problem with what she's asking of me.

Thank you.

Hi ladies, My name is Alex and my Fiance and I are looking to adopt in the next 5 years or so. We have two amazing daughters, Addison 3 1/2 and Quinn 2. We want to have one more. We have thought it over an over about making another or adopting another child. Even though I loved being pregnant with my girls and having them look like us there are so many other children out there who need a loving home. We are looking to adopt outside of the US but have no idea where to start. We are waiting to adopt around 5 years from now so that we can expand our house, get our schooling done and get married.
Has anyone adopted from outside the US?

Hi I was just wondering if you could share some info about the first time you decided to adopt out? If I can ever get my weight down and get prego I am thinking about being a Suro but nervous about the feelings involved. I know the first time can either make it wonderful or make it so that I will never want to do it again and honestly if the first time goes well I would probably consider having more.
Right now because of weight and tubil ligation I cant get prego but after I get the weight down I can go through invetro. In the mean time or if I cant get the weight off I would love to have the chance to do independent private adoption.
