re: Plus Size & Pregers

posted 10th Oct
Hi Ladies,

Add another plus size momma to the list!! My preprego weight was 220. I had lost 30 pounds prior to getting pregnant, and my goal was to not exceed that starting weight, but I'm already back up to 240 and have 11 weeks to go. I better stop eating those cookies!!

I'm due with our first baby (a boy) on December 28th. I've found that Old Navy XXL jeans are a great fit. Not too tight, and I like the lower waisted band.

I feel like I am really just starting to look pregnant, instead of just fatter. And the boy is constantly moving and kicking. I love feeling him move.

I'm looking foward to chatting with you all!!

I've been feeling my baby move for a while now, but it has just gotten stronger over the past few weeks, where I can feel her everyday. And she's a little mover. She wouldn't hold still for the U/S tech. But the past couple days she hasn't been moving as much. The one day she hardly moved at all, but the past day or so, it has picked up some. So I've been a little worried too. But I guess if I can feel her move at all, she should be okay. Right?

Hello! Can I join the club? I am a plus size mommy prego with #2. I was a size 14/16 before my first pregnancy gained 26 lbs and back at my prepregnancy weight at my 6 week check up but was a solid 16 in size. I am still a size 16 and havent gained too much weight with this one. The only thing is I am very obviously pregnant. Well I look very pregnant that is and I showed alot with my daughter too. For example. I had to go to L&D last week and the nurse who checks you in asked me how far along I was (She herself was 34 weeks)pregnant). I was like 26 weeks. She stared at me in disbelief. She was like you mean 36 weeks right? and I said no 26. then she asked multiples? and I was like nope just one big baby.lol. I dont think I look like I am 36weeks at all. So for you newbies out there...just because your plus size doesnt mean you wont show like the super tiny girls. it all just depends on your pregnancy! I wish you all a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Thats what i would think also...im just a little nervous because a good friend of mine was pregnant with a baby boy and they'd found out that he had a hernia and a small hole by his belly button and that his intestines were coming out of the hole in his belly well at 20 weeks she didnt feel him moving when she went in to get an ultrasound to find out if he was ok they found that his embilical(sp) had gotten wrapped around his intestines and caused him to pass away. So i worry when i dont feel him move that something is terribly wrong you know....sorry ladies thats sad but just want everyone to know why it concerns me so much....he kicks like crazy when he does kick tho lol. He was kickin last night and i told my hubby and i know he cant feel it yet cuz hes still pretty little but he was putting his hands on my belly waitin then pokin my tummy telling the baby to move lol it was so cute!!!

I personally wouldn't worry too much about it if you've had a healthy pregnancy so far, my son has been doing that all along. I am almost 34 weeks and sometimes I don't feel him move for hours, but then he won't stop for like half an hour. I think they sleep over 90% of the time, so as long as i feel him move daily, I know he is okay!

Well I finally had my doc appointment today. Wasn't too bad, bp was good and so was weight. Funny thing was I didn't give them enough pee!! I had to go twice for them to have enough. I was freezing the entire time, and the NP said she was fine, I informed her I was the one in the paper gown, not her. They really need to think about that sometimes. I talked to them about still breastfeeding and they said STOP. I said okay, but I won't, unless there is a problem. I will stop when he is ready to stop or before he turns 2 for sure. I also talked to them about gaining weight and they seemed fine by me weighing 210 and gaining 25-30 pounds. I was surprised and really don't want to weight that much again. I also asked them about a VBAC and they said that they really push for me to go and have another c-section, and I said we will see at the end. If all else that will be my last resort this time, hubby will have to get over himself and just give me sex when I am 9 months. Shoot I will go as far as riding a horse just to have a natural childbirth this time around. One thing they did say is that with me have a previous c-section that they won't induce me with pitocen. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but what ever. I didn't like the stuff anyway, I had to pee in the port-a-potty and that I refused to do again.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I have been really food sick today.

The reason my doc gave about pitocen and VBAC is because they are afraid that your uterus will rupture. They won't even allow VBAC here, you have to drive about 2 hours if you REALLY want one. Surprised your doc didn't explain why to you.

Sorry you're feeling sick. Got any cravings?? That's the only way I could eat when I was 1st preggers, my cravings never made me sick AND I could eat it!

For the first few times I only see a nurse practitioner, so I guess they can't go into that much detail. I don't care what they say I will try my hardest to have a VBAC. That is my choice, and I don't think that they should have that much of a say in it. I think that my doc will work with me on this though. Once I get closer to the end then I will see what happens but as for now I will try and have a natural birth. I didn't have any problems with my c-section, in fact I actually liked it, but want to know the best of both worlds, you can say. I know there is a doctor here that will do a VBAC and a home delivery, and if my insurance would pay for it that would be the way that I would go. With me being only 8 weeks we will see what happens though. As far as pitocen, it didn't work on me last time so I don't want to bother with it and I want the freedom to walk around and be comfortable, and go to the bathroom behind a closed door, not just a curtain.

The one thing I seem to be able to keep down is ice cream, in general fudge bars, and eclair bars. Oh they sound so good right now too!!

I am a plus sized momma to be also. When I got pregnant with my son I was 180 and had him at 235. This time I weighed 244 when I got pregnant and at my last appointment I was up to about 265. I still have about 8 weeks left until my c-section. Things have been going good and so far my weight has not been an issue. I started feeling this baby move a lot earlier then my last and now I feel everything he does all day long. I love it! I plan on loosing a lot of weight after this before we consider a third child. I am thrilled to be having another boy. Also I bought all my maternity clothes from JC Penney .com and Ebay. You can get used and new maternity on ebay and they have tons of plus size maternity clothes all the way to I think 4X. It's nice to know that I am not the only one on here. The pic of my belly below was a long time ago. I am nw huge and finally everyone who sees me can tell I am pregnant and not just fat.

I am having a bad day.   Hormones you got to love 'em. Do any of you have strange pains in the low stomach area that feel like a really deep muscle strian? It hurts to pic up my baby and walk. I have been having them on and off for the past few weeks. It just really seemed to bother me today because I was so emmotional anyways. One of those days where a simple task turns out to be a big ordeal and it really shouldn't be kind of thing. Drive me crazy! I took a nap and feel a bit better now.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

Omg it's so nice to see that there are so many of us plus size girls having babies. I thought my sister was going to be the only person I could talk to about being a plus size mum.

I'm only 9 weeks pregnant so I haven't gained anything yet, though my tummy feels harder. This is my first ever pregnancy, so all this can be pretty scarey. I too started to lose weight before I got pregnant, I managed to get down from 130kg to 125kg (from 286 to 275 pounds - sorry in NZ, so I'm not used to imperial system).

I'm quite worried about getting diabetes, my mum got diabetes though carrying me, but my sister (who is larger than me) had her daughter without any trouble. So I'm trying to take simple steps to limit my sugar intake. Luckly with my eatting atm I can't stand anything sweet and crave saltly and savoury foods.

I feel really inspired by seeing you other ladies post your belly pics. When I get further on I will take some pics of mine too.

Maybe if we are lucky (and ask nicely) the moderators of the forum will make us a forum for us plus sized mamas   As I'm sure there are many more of us plus sized mums and mums to be out there with a range of questions and tips.
