When I had my first visit with my midwife she was very very nice and did not make me uncomfortable at all about my weight. I meet my surgeon next week and will continue with her as I will have a c-section. I get most of my clothes from Layne and Bryant and will probably get most of my maternity clothes from there. Avenue has some cute things though.
Just curious as to why you are having a c-section. Is it because of your weight at all? My r. really hasn't said anything about the delivery yet as I am only 24weeks but I am terrified they are just going to automatically say "you need a c-section".

Wow, I don't know how much exactly you weigh or how you carry your weight, but at 352lbs they got a great profile picture at 20 weeks for me as you can see in my signature. I would be very upset.

I'm scared they are going to say that too, but I asked my doctor and she said that I should be able to deliver him normally, unless he is too big as a result of my diabetes! I would just ask your doctor, about it though, cause they all have different opinions about it.
I never knew that there were so many plus sized mamas here! I'm so glad there are other plus size mamas to talk to!!
Here are some belly pics:
22 weeks:
27 weeks:
And there is one in my siggy- My belly really sticks out from top view, you can def. tell it's not just fat anymore.
I'm starting to get people asking me when I'm due now, at 7 months, I guess they aren't scared to ask anymore!

I was 318 when I delivered my first and my doctor had no problems with me pushing. I would have pushed her out but she was coming in sunny side up and with her hand up by her head. Ended up needing a c-section. I am sure I will have a scheduled one this go around. My doctor is great never really gets me down because of my weight. I didn't have a problem getting a good sono with my first. I think for the first one they had to go inside to get a good reading.
I love all the belly pictures. I am only 7 weeks so my belly is only fat at the momment. I will get some pictures on when I actually get a baby bumb going.

I can't wait until I start showing some (also can't wait to feel the baby). I can notice a little bump that wasn't their before but that's about it.
When did everyone start showing? I didn't know if because I am plus size if it would take longer to show or not.

Yay for plus size mamas!!! I too am plus size. I wore a size 20-22 and am 5'1". My doctor had a lot of concerns for me, but so far my pregnancy has been pretty uneventful. The only thing that ever made me upset about being overweight and pregnant was going in for my u/s. My last sonographer was really cold and almost rude. I would ask her questions and she would say things like "I'm not a doctor." My last one answered all of my questions or if she couldn't she would kindly say "you should ask your doctor that question at your next visit. I carry a lot of my weight on the lower part of my belly (you know that kangaroo pouch) and the lady just keep huffing and while she was doing my u/s. I felt like the moment she saw me, she instantly didn't like me. At first I thought it was me but than my husband and sister-in-law commented on how rude she was. Does anyone else feel that way, like people judge harshly or think you should have a really hard pregnancy just because you are bigger? Anyway I am really excited to be having this baby and it is our first. We don't know the sex, so it will be a fun little surprise.

oh, and back to the moms worried about having a c-section. My mid-wife told me...at least the one I saw last time that I am setting myself up for a c-section because I have gained 17 lbs. so far in my pregnancy. Personally I am proud of myself because I was afraid that I was gonna gain a lot more than that. I almost wanted to say "i walk everyday I try to eat well, what do you want me to do? Starve myself?" I'm overweight, pregnancy is not the time to try and change that. I just plan on working out really hard after I have the baby. My husband and I got gym memberships and he plans on helping me.

how exciting! I as well am plus sized and I'm sick of hearing all these skinny girls bitch and complain about their weight! I weighed about 200 prepregnancy, lost 15 more due to, well..we still really dont know why i lost and now ive gained 9 of it back. I still weigh less now than before I got pregnant, funny how that works lol.
I was also afraid of not showing since I was a bigger girl to begin with, I'm entering my 7th month now and still people dont really notice, I've had 2 men ask me when I'm due, I kinda took it as a compliment just because thats a risky question to ask especially for a male lol. I'll have to put up some pictures now that I'm finally showing a little bit!
OH and as far as maternity clothes, motherhood maternity is the place to be! I looove their clothes and theyre not too expensive either, my friend works at a place called kid to kid and they donate maternity clothes from motherhood all the time and I got a pair of $40 jeans for about 7 bucks, how awesome is that!!

I agree that people some times judge me on my size. They don't know that great majorithy of my weight was gained due to illness and medications. They just think I am lazy and a pig. With my last pregnancy I was healthier than I had been in years. They all just expected me to have all the normal problems bug girls have while pregnant. I hope everything goes just as well with this one. I am working out almost everyday and I didn't with the last pregnancy.
Ladies if you a rude tech just let your Doctor know. Explain to them how you felt. After all it is a bussiness and they want you to keep coming so they can get your money.

Awww, YAY! I'm enjoying reading all of your stories. Unfortunately I'm at work and can't see the pics though. This weekend I'll take a pic and post it, and check out y'alls as well. I don't remember if I posted my age in my initial post, but I'm 23, will be 24 in February.
As for the comments about rude doctor's.... The clinic I go to has 4 doctor's and you can end up seeing any one of them at any time. Their is this one doctor I've seen twice so far, and each time I've seen him he's held up a pen and asked me "Do you look like this?" Of course I say no. And he goes on to say that's right and lecture me about not eating sweets or salt. Which is really annoying as I am still under my pre-pregnancy weight and my BP has been great (104/68 at last appt). There's also this one nurse, who hasn't been outwardly rude but she just seems so fake. Like when she smiles it's that fake smile that doesn't reach the eyes and she kind of acts like she doesn't want to touch me (HELLO, I don't have a contagious disease!). But everyone else has been great!
The doctors haven't automatically ruled me to have a c-section. Thank Goodness! They're fine with me trying natural, as long as no other issues arise.
I kind of feel bad after reading some of you ladies posts. I feel like I showed real early, and this is my first. Of course it wasn't noticeable to anyone else but me. But my tummy definitely got a little rounder and by the time I was 4 months, I didn't like buttoning my pants. I could button them, they just felt uncomfortable.

I starting showing a little around 21 weeks or so:
Really, about the same time smaller girls start to show as well.

I'm not actually pregnant yet, but I am TTC!
I've actually have some of the same concerns already and I wonder if since I'm big now how big I'm gonna be when we actually do get prego.
I've also wondered if I'll even "look" pregnant, as I can just poke my belly out now and I look like I'm about 8 months along!!! (I carry most of my fat right in my belly, everyone in my family does!!)
I'm glad that I won't be the only plus sized preggers chick!!

I'm so happy to see all of your posts on here!!I've never been a normal girl myself..always the chubby one in school growing up and having to buy XL and up for everything kinda sucked. I lost a lot of weight by joining weight watchers in highschool and have tried to keep it off. I'm short so my weight really gets to me. i'm 5 ft even and weigh about 150..yeah some might not think thats too much but for me my weights always been a struggle. Right now im 13 weeks prego and im a size 12..so far the jeans are fitting and the tops are sticking to a lg/xl.
I was SOO HAPPY to read about what you girls think of the thinner women on this site!! lol. I dont have that "cute bump" and i was feeling a little upset and insecure reading some posts and looking at the pictures. Everyone is abosutley gorgeous with their bellies though..big or small. Thanks guys for this post.

To me, it felt like I started showing right away. Now that I think about it my pants were feeling a little tight right before I found out I was pregnant, kinda like the whole period bloated feeling. Turns out I was 7 weeks at the time. But it was around 4 months when they truly stopped fitting me. I would have to say I was noticeable to other people at about 6 months. I think before that people just thought I maybe over indulged myself in oreos or something..LOL! You just have to remember that everyone is different.

My belly started showing up higher before anything else, so I didn't look pregnant for quite awhile. I did notice around 12 weeks my belly was tighter and some of my skirts wouldn't fit comfortably anymore...so I invested in some more loose dresses that I could wear throughout the pregnancy.
I'm carrying high, as they say - my belly is huge right under my boobs to right below my belly button, and since my lower belly doesn't stick out, all my old flab is still hanging there. Lovely, eh? If my lower belly had been the part to stretch out, I don't think I'd have gotten many stretch marks, but because it's my top, I have more of them. Actually, most of my stretch marks are old ones that have darkened and re-stretched! Anyone else get that?
I get angry at all the doctors and techs who are rude to you guys...there's no reason for that at all! I did a lot of research into the whole OB thing - how they've made themselves indispensable to women, as if we could not give birth without their help! I read about how they've become C-section happy, scheduling them as if they were routine for everyone. There is no reason a big girl cannot give birth naturally, unless she has a serious issue like pre-eclampsia, or other complications...but just because she's big doesn't mean that she can't push!! It just angers me...which is why I went the midwife route, with a natural birth. I think even if I did have to give birth in a hospital, I'd still use a midwife. I pray that I don't have any complications! I feel fully confident in my body's abilities as a woman, and my ability to give birth. Even if I am big!
Some doctors are great, but there are some real cases out there. We went to two early in my pregnancy and were treated like crap, which led to my research and choosing the alternative route. I was unsure at first because for some reason I thought that only vegetarian thin hippie-type women could do homebirths, but quickly learned that's not the case! I saw photos of other women, some bigger than me, giving birth at home.
Thing that sucks is, insurance won't cover my home birth at all. It's still worth it to me, and our midwives have a sliding scale - they're only charging us $1500 for the whole thing, and they're letting us wait to pay until January when my hubby gets his student loans and all.
My next appt with them we're planning the supply list for the home birth, exciting!! I do feel left out on the forums at times because my planning and experience is different in ways from most of y'all's. Has anyone else ever done a home birth or anything?
