re: Plus Size & Pregers

First time pregger's of 34 weeks and plus sized. It does make you have this sense of insecurity though doesn't it? Like can people tell that I am pregnant or do I just look more larger than I was before. I also wished I was like the skinner pregnant women who you no undoubtedly that they're pregnant and not just chubby. You get this feeling like they get more questions then you when going in public places like "awwe when are you do" and " oh is it a boy or girl". Ya no?

I am pregnant with my first child at 30 y/o. Have suffered from PCOS most of my life, so I was thrilled to get knocked up! I weighed around 238 at my 9 wk appt, and lost 10 by my 13 week. I don't weigh myself at home, but I try to eat as healthy as possible since I'm high risk for gestational diabetes and have a heart condition that could lead to preeclampsia. I've only bought one pair of maternity jeans, and have several pairs of stretchy pants and oversized tshirts to last til Aug 20. I just dread the summer heat and having to buy shorts!

The first one i was not plus size.. this one i am. i too started loosing a little right before i got pregnant. but that is probably one of the reasons i was finally able to get pregnant again. we have been trying for 5 years and no luck was about.to go on Clomid to help us out. i am proud to be plus size. i have noticed that at 6 wks i am showing more than with my first pregnancy.

I am considered plus size even though I dont look like it because of my build I guess. My only concern with being pregnant was caring the baby and still being over weight and making sure that I would enjoy my pregnancy. I also felt like I wouldnt show because I do have a belly and wanted to feel what all the other skinny moms felt and been able to experience the rounding of the belly I guess you would say. I am 24+5 and have started to show a little bit, but its all mostly fat and there are at times I get depressed because I want to be able to take pictures and share them on facebook and experience the joy of having a round belly and being able to show it off.

This is my 2nd plus size pregnancy. With my first I started as an Australian size 12-14 and had constant morning sickness for all nine months. Since I was working and had to control my nausea, I did the only thing that worked, I ate starchy foods pretty much constantly to stop me hurling. As a result I finished as an Aus 16-18. I then had 4 months of physio to deal with pelvic instability and was just starting to lose my baby weight again when I fell pregnant for a second time. Much to my dismay I was initially denied access to my midwife program as they only take "low risk" pregnancies and I was too heavy. My midwife argued for me to be included however and so far I've had no complications. My BP is excellent and I passed my first glucose challenge (I have to do 2x 2hr tests as I am "high risk" for GD due to my weight even though I have no history). At 25 weeks I can actually see that I am losing fat this pregnancy (compared to 16 weeks), while my belly is growing my thighs and double chin are shrinking. Not because I am exercising (I have pelvic instability again that prevents that) but because I can eat normally and if anything, have less appetite due to the pregnancy. I also have to have a 36 week ultrasound to measure the size of my baby (My first was a normal 7lb13oz) as again I an "high risk" due to my weight.
I have to admit I find it very annoying that the fact that I am otherwise 100% healthy, my weight on it's own is enough to pigeon hole me as a high risk pregnancy and stigmatise me in the medical profession.

Hi there moms. I'm a new mom to be at 16 weeks. When i got pregnant, i was 210 pounds, 5'7", and 19 years old. I too was losing weight. I have now gained about 11 pounds, which i'm guessing is good. I know exactly what your talking about because i'm afraid that i won't look pregnany or i will be so huge that i won't be able to find clothes. My mom was huge when she was pregnant and i feel i will follow in the footsteps of her and also of having big babies. My husband and i didn't think it was going to happen because i had taken pregnancy tests and they all came up negative and i had all the signs. so when i took the last one i couldn't believe it. i had to go get a blood test. i'm just worried that i will have complications or i won't lose the weight i gain while i'm pregnant. Any advice?

I was so disappointed to be 25 weeks and still not showing. I had twins my first pregnancy and STILL didn't show until the middle of my 6th month. My OB and the ultrasound tech say the baby is doing great so, I guess I just have to wait a little longer for her to grow so I will show, lol. I agree that being bigger and not showing does save money on clothes. Congrats to all the mommies-to-be. :-)

First time Plus size momma to be here too. I was 290 ish pounds when I found out I was expecting. This was after loosing over 50 pounds and being told for 9 years that I would never carry my own kids due to scare tissue from abuse I endured as a child. Guess the Joke is on the Doctors that told me that load of BS.
My friends say they can tell that I am prego (I am 27 weeks and a few days now) but evidently the big belly isn't a give away as it should be. Was out with my Hubby to be dancing at our fave country bar and a Bar back was giving me a hard time for have a DD sticker on (all my drinks are free that way) telling me I should have a beer. You ladies should have seen the look on his face when I very politely informed him that I couldn't drink due to the fact I am building a tiny human.
