re: Plus Size & Pregers

posted 13th Oct
I've always been a plus-sized girl. It doesn't bother me so much as it did...mainly because i have a man in my life who told me point blank, I love you for you, no matter your size, you'll always have my heart. I'm due November 12th, and I always felt weird about buying clothes to cover my belly. But when my boyfriend went into the store with me, and I showed him a few things that I tried on, he made me feel like some kind of princess. He made me giggle when I felt like crying when I saw how much bigger I've gotten. One thing however, I'll never forget is going to my PCP to confirm i was pregnant. The first words out of her mouth is that I needed to lose weight I was too large for my age. When I went for my first pre-natal appointment with my OB, i told him when my PCP said and he laughed, and said "I'll be honest, yes you are big for your age, but in today's society you are the perfect size." I felt so wonderful, so you big figured women, don't let these skinny bones sticking out women make you feel horrible about your looks...for you are beautiful in your own way :-)

Im so glad there are more of you ladies out there! After reading a lot of the posts we have many similiar fears and experiences. I am 16 weeks pregnant with my second baby with an 8 MONTH OLD at home... crazy. I had lost all my baby weight but unfortunately was still plus size. I started doing Weight Watchers and lo and behold... I got pregnant right away. With my first baby my husband and I tried for 3 years with nothing. I was told the same thing, start exercising. Thats what I did, and both times I got pregnant.

The biggest problem I have is that if I say Im pregnant to someone, they automatically look at my belly and go "oh?", and that is so uncomfortable for me. I am bottom heavy so trying to find maternity pants is a nightmare!!!! When I go into ANY maternity store it is all women who are 100 pounds even when they are pregnant and I feel so judged. Like they dont know if I am there because I am pregnant or because I am chunky! But the most important thing I have learned thru these pregnancies especially is love your bodies!!!

I don't feel so alone anymore!   I weighed 210lbs when I got Pregnant and that was after loosing 10-15lbs doing Zumba lol. I was trying to plan my wedding and had finally decided that a baby coukd wait a little longer and me and my now Husband had stopped trying. We had lost a baby the year before. But after being 2wks late and so overly tired I decided to take a test and found out a couple days later I was 6wks Pregnant... Oh Wow is all we could say. 2wks later I had no choice but to wear maternity clothes my size 14s didn't fit anymore and the Dr said it was because I was showing already and all I could see was a roll and laughed at him lol. For about a month I maintained the same weight but kept getting bigger the Dr told me I had lost the majority of my body weight and was now all baby. So by the time my wedding roled around I was 14wks and very glad my dressed lased in the back. I didn't gain much weight until about 6 1/2 -7 months and I'm now weighing 245lbs.
I'm due December 17th, and 30wks, and they are projecting his weight to be about 10lbs I am very obviously pregnant but still a little worried about all the weight. The Dr. says that because I've chosen to breast feed that all the weight will come off fast and I wont have to worry about it but I still do. I was so self conchs that until yesterday I wouldn't take any pregnancy pics and finally after my friends harping and begging I finally gave in and took 1! This is my first baby and Me and My Husband are very excited. I'm just glad I don't have to feel so alone anymore.
Now that I've poured my whole pregnancy story out and feel silly I Hope it helps others to not feel as alone as I did.
I hope to hear from more of you ladies and hope to gain some friends to talk and discuss things with.

Plus size mommy to be here! Had my first baby two years ago. Pre pregnancy weight 189 after birth 246. I managed to drop down to 218 pounds. I then found out I was pregnant with baby #2. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and shockingly I've only gained 2 pounds. Prior to this pregnancy, I was a size 16-18.

I have always been plus size. I am 5'9 and weighed 320 before my pregnancy. I am currently 6 months pregnant and weigh 294. I lost all the way down to 289 and finally started to gain weight back in my fourth month of pregnancy.

I do not feel like I want to be skinny though. I wear a size 22 right now and I would like a baby bump to be more profound but I do not obsess over it.

I took a longggggg time of trying and medication to get pregnant and I am loving every moment of pregnancy : )

Thanks for all the knowledgeable info! I am 6 weeks preggers and I’m freaking out about the pregnancy and weight gain! A lil bit about my background…I am 34 and have a son who is 14 yrs. old! So yeah, can you see why I am freaking out? Lol! I started dieting in January and before I started, I weighed 255 lbs and size 18/20. By June, I had lost 50 lbs and got down to a comfortable size 14. I pretty much took a break in the summer and decided I would start my diet back up in 1st of Oct. Needless to say, I didn’t accomplish my goal because I found out I was pregnant! I’m ecstatic to be a mommy again but scared to my wits to gain weight. Since June, I’ve gain 6 lbs…I haven’t weighed myself since Oct. 1…thinking of doing that tomorrow.

I’m more health conscious since starting my diet and for the most part, I’ve been sticking to the same type of foods. I’m also staying away from most breads, pasta, processed foods, and sodas… crossing my fingers, I won’t gain no more than 15 lbs. in this pregnancy. Before I had my son, I was skinny and pretty healthy. I think I gained like 35-40 lbs and I struggled to get it off post labor. I'm looking forward to the next 9 months and look forward to a halthy baby!!! Good luck you all!!!

Today I had a pretty depressing today... well there is still a lot ahead and I know its not the end of the world, but I went to get some maternity clothes and tried on x-large jeans and they were very tight so it just made me sad to realize that.... Oh well I am a size 14 soo.... plus i've been working out this pregnancy.... oh well just gotta accept it and then work on it afterwards i guess...

I've been a 'big girl' my whole life never really worried because ive always been okay health wise .. but my doctor has me worrying now ... my bp is great my glucose is normal and he still tells me 1 lbs in 3 weeks is too much weight gain ... and then tells me how if i keep gaining weight im sure to have to have a c-section ... those of you who were bigger even before pregnancy .. how often did you have to have a csection ?

I'm so anxious about my ob appt tomorrow because they already have me on such limited activity. I'm afraid I'm gonna gain way too much weight since I'm not even allowed to walk much anymore. I know what I'm gaining is for a good cause but its hard to fit in the XL maternity jeans now and I still have 8 weeks left. I'm hoping the doctor will realize that making me not be allowed to do anything is doing more harm than good! Wish me luck!

I will be 38 weeks tomorrow. I have always been on the heavier side. After my last pregnancy (6 yrs ago) I was at 180 lbs. When got pregnant with this one I was at 229lbs. I am now down to 218lbs. I was at 211lbs a few months ago but just kept losing weight. I have always lost weight with my kids, which is fine since I am on the bigger side. I do have a bump, but I get a lot of people that don't believe me when I tell them how long I have left.....they think I am full of it. I am just so ready to be done with this pregnancy. I loved being pregnant in the beginning, but being 6 yrs older than I was the last time has been harder on me than I thought. I had a pedicure today from my m-i-l so hopefully she kick started something! Common baby!!!
