When I went throught my first pregnancy I gained 30 pounds and the father wasn't around either. but I had amazing support from my brothers, sisters and family. Honestly I wouldn't have wanted the father around anyways. but I know the feeling of not having him around it sucked. I'm on my secont pregnancy now and happy to say the father is in the picture. when I got pregnant I weighed 230 now I'm down to 204 and 25 weeks into my pregnancy. At first I was very worried with my weight loss because I had gained so much in my first pregnancy. but now I realize that it's because now I'm eating a lot healthier foods than I was with my first pregnanccy. and the doctor does not seem concerned at all. I hope your family is supporting you through this.

Hello ladies! Im also plus size and on my second pregnancy. Whats been hard for me is finding clothes. I think that makes it even more unfair for plus size women. My town doesnt even have maternity clothes here and hardly any plus size clothes as well. I wish i had lost weight before this one as well. Im 30 wks and my son is only 13 months. I hate that i dont have skinny girl prego bump. I just look fat. It sucks. I thought I was alone in this as well. Im glad someone started this post.

I use to b very overweight and never thought id ever have a baby...well 2 years ago I had gastric bypass done...I've lost 150 lbs...I'm now down to 170....the problem with that is my food intake isn't like a normal persons so its been hard gaining weight...my tummy is all messed up with strech marks and am scared when I actually start showing n a few weeks that my tummy will look gross or that I won't show at all cause even tho my stomic if flat now it has been streched before and I won't show at all...I understand how everyone feels cause deep down I still feel plus size cause I have been all my life...

I am glad to hear that other people are feeling the same as me. I am 12 weeks I'll be 13 on Thursday 10/11/12. This is my first child and I have always been a big girl since I was a little one. I won't put my weight numbers out there but before prgnancy I was wearing a size 28 jean. I've always accepted my weight it is who I am but I know that doctors are worried. I just don't want anything bad to happen to my baby. I just recently at my 12 week checkup did the 1 hour glucose test and was at 142! only over by 2 points and they made me come back for the 3 hour test. I apparently failed my first two tests but passed the last two with flying colors. Has this happened to anyone? They are making me go to a diabetes class and see a diabetic doctor. I just don't know what to expect. Am I really testing that bad? The most I failed was by 8 points. I am just worried about it and since I am so early yet in my pregnancy. I am sad that I don't think I will be showing all that much but hopefully I will still be able to feel my little one and that's all that matters. I am also struggling with finding clothes to fit me since I was already in the biggest size out there mostly. Any suggestions for any of my concerns would be very helpful! Thanks everyone!

Id try to eat healthy as much as possible. If your sugars are already getting out of wack at 12 weeks its very possible you might get gestational diabetes. If you have GD theres a higher chance later in life youll get type 2 diabetes. Def not what you wanna do. Exercise lightly and eat as healthy as possible. I had my glucose test last week at 28 weeks and thank god everything was normal. Ive been doing really well this preg and changed my diet due to my mom having GD with her last preg and now has type 2 diabetes and alot of health issues related to the diabetes. I have lost 12lbs and havent gained anything back. Good luck to you and hope you have a safe healthy preg.

am so excited to have found this forum as a plus size preggo for the first time. I'm 19 weeks and thankfully have so far had an a fairly easy pregnancy now that the morning sickness is gone. I weighed 257lbs when I first weighed in and then lost 6lbs. I'm now at 260, so I consider that only a gain of 3lbs, lol. I feel so much better seeing the other postings of ladies lamenting not looking pregnant. My husband and I can tell I'm pregnant but to the outside world I just look a big girl with a fat belly. I take public transportation a lot and I get so frustrated after being on my feet all day that no one can tell I'm pregnant because no one ever lets me sit! Silly, I know but I just want to scream I'm not fat I'm PREGNANT!

Have you looked online for clothes?? Maurices has some really cute shirts, you could buy a size up? Otherwise Kohls and Target have a nice maternity line that you could possibly order online.

Me too! I did find a place that got up to 3x in maternity clothes! I am in 2x. I really hate that fact that i just keep looking fatter and fatter and not pregnant.

I definitely know how you guys feel. I got pregnant with my son at 18 and gained almost 40 lbs. and then lost most of it in the first few weeks after i had him. Of course a few months later I got the implanon birth control and ended up at an all time high of 245 lbs. which is a lot for being 5' 2". Then at the end of June I found out I was pregnant with number two after i had finally dropped down to 200. So far I have only gained about 5 pounds at almost 21 weeks. But it still sucks to have the pressure of your doctor telling you that they don't want you to gain any weight until at least 20 weeks! Being bigger definitely does make it harder to find maternity clothes even, especially when most of them only go up to an XL and then they go plus size and cost more. I for one am definitely not looking forward to the holidays though because it will mean weight gain for me before the baby gets here with all the good food and sweets.

This makes me feel better to not be the only one who people look at and say you're pregnant? Well no, I was just saying that to be funny?!! Seriously my self confidence is totally out the window with this pregnancy. I hit 212 before I got pregnant and I'm only 5'4" which is the heaviest I've been. I was 187 when I delivered my daughter, now 3, and gained a ton of weight when she stopped nursing. I'm due Dec 11, almost 32 weeks now. My neighbor told me this morning she thought it looked like I was getting chubby, but she didn't know I was pregnant. It's so hard to walk away from that without crying or saying something hateful. I had a damn fitted shirt on, and I waddle! I need a shirt that says "yes, I really am pregnant!" To the mommys out there that are confident I applaud them, but some days I just feel like laying in bed and crying.
