Yes I had the same issue with my last pregnancy every single time you go in they collect a urine sample and every single time I had very elevated levels of protein in my urine. I ended up finding out at my 20 week ultrasound that my unborn baby had Congenital Cystic Adenomatiod malformation of the lung. Basically a mass of cysts in her lung. I then later found out that the elevated protein levels could have been linked to her condition. I am only telling you because you asked but that does not mean that there is anything wrong with your baby. It ended up being a very happy ending with my daughter of course they sent me to a larger hospital to maternal fetal medicine and kept a very close eye on her, there were all kinds of things they said could happen and she ended up being fine after birth by some miracle all traces of the mass had disappeared. Generally they keep track of those types of things in your urine because they help them get a better idea of how your body is dealing with the pregnancy and in most cases its nothing serious. Do not think that you are not providing a safe place for you baby to grow as long as you are doing everything you can to keep your self as healthy as you can. I felt the same way when i found out about my daughter but I was assured by every single doctor I came in contact with that congenital issues can not be prevented and has nothing to do with any thing I may have done or not done. I would guess that the elevated levels will tell you something when they get more testing done but likely its nothing too serious. If you are already showing signs of raising blood pressure that could actually be the cause itself. Be thankful that in this day in age we have such great medical care to recognize these things as early as they are. The best thing you can do right now is not worry I know that is easier said then done but really I am sure things will be fine. good luck

I'm 5'4 and im 34 weeks, I have 2 days until 35 weeks and I've gained a total of 19 pounds im now up to 241 I lost weight when I was first pregnant and my doctor told me that hes proud of me for doing so good on my weight gain, but at 241 the term gain sucks either way I'm supposed to be at 130-150 for my height and I have about 100 pounds to lose after I have my daughter, I've always been plus size plus I have PCOS and a hormone problem my OBGYN is putting me on hormone pills after my daughter is weaned off breastfeeding so hopefully that will help, Thank god for the plus sized mommas out there and that I'm not alone in this pyhsical and mental struggle we call plus-size.

the thing i have heard from a hemotologist is that I'm too fat, that I need to lose weight, that i don't deserve to eat food at all, that if he had his way he would let me die, i heard this almost every time i went to see him (every week for almost a year) because I had developed blood clots in my lungs and it almost killed me. He would say things like, i need to get off my lazy ass and do something with my life, at the time i had a new born and a 2 yr old that kept me busy plus i am kind of like those gypsy women (that you see on my big fat american gypsy wedding)- stay home, clean the house top to bottom even scrubbing floors, walls, ceilings, base boards, windows and everything in between all day and night, plus cook and clean some more- i never sat on my fat ass, and just did nothing except when i was on bedrest- even then, i didn't stay on bed rest, my fiance would get upset with me, he knew how i was, but he knew i should not be doing anything but potty and shower- and to have this dr everytime i see him say this, just floored me.......... I am already worried about my weight, the last thing i need is for ANY dr to talk smurf to me about it. you know? I'm sorry for going on and on, but just thinking about it, pisses me off all over again.......omg.... and I am supposed to go back and see him again thru out this pregnancy..... think I'm on a hunt because I fired his ass.....lol.... I even told other dr's about him and I called him a dick behind his back and infront of him, because that is how he was too me, even his own nurses don't like him, but he pays them well......... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

Im insecure and i really dont feel cute and pregnant in fact i feel huge and nothing fits. Im now in a size 20 and thats the highest ive ever been. How do i control my weight? Thank you for responding back. I am just anxious to get some testing done to figure everything out. I am so glad that your daughter is doing good and I am definitely thankful for all the technology and medicines that are available to us. I'm trying not to worry as much because I do feel better about it, but it is hard not to think about it. Anyway, thanks again!

Hey there Leah, I have a friend who lives in MN. She is short, and has for the most of her life been heavy. She was pregnant with twins, and after they were born. The Dr told her she was morbidly obese, and she should have a gastric by pass surgery. Stupid DR I wanted to kill after him telling her that, That is not the safest surgery in the world, and it can turn your life upside down. She ended up losing a bunch of weight just playing with her girls. I saw her almost 2 years after she had them, she was down to a size 16. witch for her was a great size. I think your Dr needs to take a lesson in ................get the blank out of his field. Because that is not the way to treat any human being. I hope you find a better DR....

I am sure things are just fine. More then likely it has something to do with the way your body is dealing with all the new things going on in your body. I dont know if you ever had your urine tested before you got pregnant I'm assuming no but for all you know you may have had elevated levels of protein before you got pregnant you just never know. So it may not even be related to the pregnancy but If i remember correctly it sometimes ties in with high blood pressure. If you have pregnancy induced high blood pressure they will keep a close eye on you and things will be fine.

I lost weight with my last two pregnancies and so far this pregnancy I have lost 10 pounds not trying to either. Shoot I wish I could just lose weight when not pregnant but no of course not I am all backwards. I lost around 20 something pounds during pregnancy with my last two babies and dropped almost another 20lbs just from giving birth both of my babies were over 8 pounds It happened to my mother too. I am not counting any ducks at this point because I am only 21 weeks and could still put on a bunch of weight.. Pretty strange thing but the doctors were not worried about it because I am overweight to start with. Its weird how many other plus size woman have had the same issue, I was practically skinny by the time I gave birth the last two times. too bad i couldnt seem to keep it all off. lol wth

do not think like that please that is so off basis you dont have to worry I know tons of very thin woman who gave birth to babies over 9 pounds your size has nothing to do with how big the baby will be at birth. I have very heavy friends who have had very tiny babies between 5 and a half pounds to like 7 pounds. A big baby generally indicated a very healthy baby and shows that the mom took care of themselves so its a good thing not a bad thing. The placenta does not last for ever and and the healthier the pregnancy the bigger that cord will be. so all you need to do is take care of your self and your weight should not affect the baby in any negative way at all. a big baby tells you that your body took care of the placenta, the organ in which nurished your baby for the past nine month. Any way everything I said is a Fact. so dont feel that way at all.
