I'm really hoping someone's been in the same boat.....

Ok so I have had severe migraines since I was 9 years old, both sides of my family have them bad. Since I was about 20 or so I started using ortho tri-cyclen as my form of BC and never really had problems that I can remember. I quit using it about two years ago, but after I had my son that was my preferred method of BC since I've used it for years before. Ever since I had my son I have also had horrible migraines, it seems like I've had them consitantly for months now. I'll have a little break here and there, but for the most part I'd say I had a migraine for the majority of my post partum time. One of my close friends was taken off her pills a few months ago cuz her dr thinks the pills are what set the migraines off and sure enough hers stopped, so now I'm beginning to think maybe my pills are doing this to me. So I'm just kinda curious if any of you ladies have had the same problem with a bc method (preferrably the ortho pills) and if so what kind of method did you switch to? I'm gonna call my doctor and try to get in there sometime next week cuz it's my last week in the pack and that way I can switch to something at the right time, but I wanna see if anyone else has been through this so I can have an idea on some options I might be able to go with. My friend just quit taking bc all together cuz she's not with anyone right now so she's not worried about it, but I really really don't want to get pregnant right this second so I definitely want to be able to switch to something. Any input would be very appreciated!

I don't know but I do know that if you got an epidural that could be the cause of it also. I am not on any BC right now but ever since I got out of the hospital and stop taking the meds they gave me I have had a head ach every day also.

aww I'm sorry hun, I used to get migraines all the time, they stopped when I was around 18, but man they were a pain, I've really got no advice for you, because I'm on Mirena, it's made me bleed everyday for the last month, ugh.

Aw thanks you guys for writing though! I figured there wasn't anyone that went thru this but I just thought I'd throw it out there in hopes that there was SOMEONE on here that was. Though I honestly don't wish this upon anyone. I'm just afraid that they're gonna tell me I have to go off birth control completely cuz its the extra hormones that was causing the migraines with my friend, and like I said before I really don't wanna get pregnant right now.
I do have migraine medicine that usually take, but I ran out and since I had my son I never went back to work so I have no insurance. We were supposed to get married pretty quick after the baby was born so I could get on his insurance, but I'm a lagger so that hasn't happened yet . I took my son to visit his Granny last night and she gave me 2 vicodin, so at least today I will be feeling a bit better, God bless her . Anyway thanks again girls!
