Did my water break!! ADVICE PLEASE~~HELP
posted 5th Oct '07
Around 2:30today I was going to the bathroom and leaned forward to wipe and felt a slight "pop" feeling and then a trickle of fluid came out. Needless to say I am kind of freaking out at that point because I thought it was my water breaking. Now I am not sure? I read that if it is your water breaking you should be able to lay down for 1/2hr and get up and notice a wet spot on a fresh pad. I tried that and fell asleep for 1 1/2hrs and got up and still dry. But I have been feeling kind of crampy and had (sorry TMI) a softer than normal bowel movement? This is my first time and I don't know if I just leaned forward and the baby pushed on my bladder or if my water broke?? Is there anyother way to tell with out having to call the dr? I don't want to look stupid! I am 37wks 2 days. The baby was checked by ultra sound yesterday and they said he would be ready at any time 7lbs 8oz, is it time?????
Thanks for the help.

I dont think it was your water cause more fluid would have come out. Even if it doesnt gush it should still trickel it doesnt just stop. But if you are really worried call dr or go to l&d its better to be safe than sorry. But baby can kick/hit your bladder to make you gush like that i say that if it doesnt continue to trickel then dont worry about it.

Thanks a lot! I am so worried about every little thing I feel these days. If it was my water will I begin to have contrax after a while? I am so nervous now that it is getting close to my due date of october 24.
Thanks again for your advice.

From what you said it sounds like labor will come soon and really watch to see if you gush fluid or even trickel it cause you only have like 24 hours after your water breaks to have the baby cause there is risk of infection. I would just get up move around do housework lol thats what i did and i had my daughter like 24 hours later. Everything will be ok and trust me lol i am on my third and you get excited everytime. And i dont know about how soon labor might come but i was already in active labor when my water broke so you may feel many contractions before your water breaks. Good luck get up and move if you want that baby to come lol hopefully your baby wont be subborn.

LOL. I am up now doing the rest of the laundry and getting things ready just incase it is the real thing. I really am not sure I feel like crap but I have not had any contrax (not even sure what they feel like). I am hot, going to the bathroom and just feel crappy in general. Oh well he will come when he is ready, I am sure I just worried my self for nothing. I have not had anymore fluid come out (except for when I went pee) so it must have been baby on my bladder.
Thanks again for advice.

Yeah well contrations are going to feel just like period cramps but they are really going to hurt like hell but dont expect them to be in one certain spot cause with my daughter they were on my side. SO if you feel your tummy tighten thats problay a contration. Good luck i wish you much labor dust i cant wait to have mine but i still have lots of time to wait.

I don't understand why you don't call your doctor. Mine is really awesome, and they will talk with me about ANY of my questions.
I think you should be calling the doc... She knows better than we do!

i agree. I would have called the doctor right away. They are here for you and dont feel stupid. HOw are we supposed to know everything. (we pay them alot of money to answer ALL our questions and be available to us 24/7 LOL) At least if your wrong you will fell better knowing that you called instead of not doing anything and finding out later that it was in fact your water that did break.

Ok now sometimes our drs arent always there to answer questions esp questions you think are dumb i dont know how many kids you guys have had but i have had 2 and i kinda know what i am talking about i know what it feels like for your water to break. ANd it would trickel if nothing else if it did break trust me i know you dont always have to call dr i mean not everyone has access to there dr 24/7. I dont mean to sound rude or anything but i just think that whats the reason for this website if you dont use it to ask questions before you bother your dr esp with a first baby.

Nope, not bitchy at all. I actually have called the dr and I am waiting for a call back. I would rather be stupid and peed instead of sorry later.
Thanks again,

Dr just called back and he said that I would notice fluid leaking each time I stand up, enough that it would trickle down my leg. He said that when ever he hears of "water breaking" while on the toilet or going to/from toilet he is apt to think it was just the position of the baby pushing on the urethra (sp?). BUT he said if I do notice any changes to call him right back. So I feel a little better now.
Thanks for all of the advice.

well shame on me for offering the advise to call a Dr. I forgot that every woman's body is exactly the same. My bad.
