Dental procedures while pregnant

posted 5th Oct '07
I just had a wisdom tooth pulled yesterday and it SUCKED. People who have gotten theirs pulled said that general anesthesia was great. But of course, I had to have the Novocane because I'm pregnant. Well, I was in so much pain last night that every part of the left side of my face was on fire. Plus, I think my baby wasn't too happy either because he/she only moved around a few times the whole day and is usually very active. Anyone else had dental procedures done while pregnant? How did you and yoru baby react to the pain and the medication?

last thursday, I had a root canal and filling put in...it totally sucked, and the numbing crap they used wore off very fast!! she was pissed and kicking a ton the whole procedure, and then I guess wore herself out, and stayed very quiet for a good long while...I was worried that the numbing stuff doped her up..... but she was back to kicking normal again like 2 days later ( I slept alot, b/c it felt like I got punched in the jaw, and the 1 tylenol I was taking wasn't doing too much) hope your mouth feels better soon honey.....also did you ever get anything figured out for another u/s? pm me!!

I used being pregnant as an excuse to NOT go to the dentist. I hate the dentist. Its a horrible place.

it hurts to have your wisdom teeth out as it is, so i feel sorry for you hun. i was in pain for weeks after getting mine out. i had jaw bone sticking out afterwards and they didnt do anything for it, and it TORE my mouth right up. i eventually broke my jaw bone off so the gums would heal over it. i cant imagine how i would have felt if i didnt have my vicadin   sorry hunny.

Yea, the dentist just gave me Rxs for antibiotics and tylenol w/ codine, but suggested I not take the tylenol unless absolutely necessary. I just took one extra strength tylenol when I got home and one this morning. The pain isn't really that bad anymore, it just hurts to sneeze or open my mouth wide. It feels like it's healing up already, which is good for me.

I don't know what I'd do if my jaw bone was sticking out. I hope everything healed up fine for you! Fortunately, the tooth was out all the way and he didn't have to dig for it. My mom said THAT is waht really makes it hurt.

yeah that is what makes it hurt real bad is when they have to do actual surgery to get them out. if you are doing ok on extra strength tylenol, then you're definitly lucky!!! my jaw is healed fine, i can just feel a little spot under my gums where the jaw bone has a little dip in it where i broke it off. i thnk they called it a bone spick or something. it was very very sharp
