Breast pumping question

posted 28th Sep '07
I am new to breast feeding, well i am going to try. with my other 2, i didn't. This time i want to pump more than the actual nursing. i have seen so many different reviews on all of the electric breast pumps and i really would hate to go spend a hundred dollars or more for something that doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions on a breast pump? i am planning on buying one in the next few weeks, so have a few weeks to find a good one but still would like some opinions

As this is my first baby, I don't have any experience. However, I also plan on pumping for my son (it is my goal to return to school after he is born, so I will be unable to breast feed) and bought the Medela Pump in Style Advanced. I have read a lot of reviews on it and all my friends who have used it swear by it. Babies R Us has a lot of reviews from people who have purchased different items on their website.

my baby is due in 11dys and i've been told to buy one manual hand pump and an electric one because everyone takes differently to them plus i've also heard medela is good and the suction is just right for alot of ladies but i've been looking at some evenflo ones and playtex because i will be using the drop-insystem

You don't have to use the same brand pump as the bottles you use...but anyway, I have a Medela Pump In Style and it's great because I went back to work at 6 weeks. It's fast because it's a double electric and comes with a little freezer pack with four bottles for your milk, which is great for if/when you don't have a fridge.

I found the Medela range worked well for me, I had the manual breastpump and accessories. I used an electric one at the hospital and that was fabulous.

I was also recommended the Medela range by the lactation consultant in the hospital.

There's some Medela products at

Madela pump is style is the best pump there is.

my only suggestion is to get the bottles that attach to the pump. The bags can be really messy. They arn't freezable but, you can always transfer when you get home.

I used mine with my son for two weeks but, I plan on replacing all of the parts and taking it to work.
