When labor comes...

posted 3rd May '10
I'm 25days aways from my due date I'm trying for a vbac but since I never found a ob vbac friendly I am planning to just show up at the hospital and having whatever doctor there deliver my baby hopefully as a vbac but I was wondering if I start having contractions I dont want to go to the hospital right away I wanna walk around my neighborhood and use the birthing ball and try and stay home as long as I can so that they dont try and get me to do a c section but how long so I stay home? I'm not sure what would be safer what do you ladies recommend? And what if my water breaks first how long so I stay home then? I'm also getting so much pain where my c section scar is at I feel the baby move there alot and I get this pain in my pelvic bone area what do you think it is should I be concern or is that normal?

If you are having pain at your incision site, I wouldn't recommend intentionally holding off with the hospital in hopes of a vaginal birth. Doctors want to make sure that you are a good candidate for a vbac before they let you try for one. Thereare risks that come with it, like separation of your previous incision or even uterine rupture. And if you are hurting already... I just wouldn't risk it.

I had my first baby in the womans pavilaion in lancaster but they were horrible so I am having my second in Valley Presbytarian in Van Nuys also because they do vbacs there and not in the AV....

Ahh! I've heard sooo many bad things about the pavillion center   That's where I'm going. What was so bad about it? Who was your dr?

I feel like the reason why it hurts down there is because my daughter is already dropped shes like hanging down there and the fact that she moves sooo much makes it worse because when she moves thats when he hurts it doesnt always hurt though its more uncomfortable...

Well, it may be nothing, but it could also be something. If you're planning on delivering in a hospital that does vbac, why not just clear it with your doctor first? That way you will know what to expect. If you just show up without a docs consent for a vbac, I doubt they will do it anyway.

I dont even know who she was I cant remeber her name they convice alot of women to have c sections that are so not nessecary I didnt have to have one she just didnt want to wait any longer and Im sure also because they get paid way more with a c section only if I knew at the time I would of never agreed to a c section and could of had my baby normal.... They dont assist you well either they leave you by yourself most of the time they come in once in a while and leave right away...

Was it Dr. Baker? I have her and Kurian. Ugh I wish I would have switched a long time ago. I'm trying to do as much research as I can so I don't just go with what the doctors say... This sucks... I'm sorry you had to go through that

Well they cant force me to have another c section and I have to sign a paper before they perform one and its not like they are going to send me out the hospital just because I refuse and I dont have a doctor since I never found a vbac friendly and I have talked to the hospital and they said thats find I can try and whatever doctor is on the clock with assist me and they will be prepared incase anything goes wrong and I really need to have another c section but they did say the doc will try to convince me on a repeat c/s but its all my choice.... I'm going to try I dont want to have that doubt what if....
